Starting a basic webpage - Looking for tips/help

    Hey guys

I recently joined this forum, so I'll say a lil' about my programming experience here - personal introduction will have to wait a little :)
    * 1 year of working experience in Microsoft Office, VBA and Office templates
    * 1 year of working experience with VB.net and 2 Microsoft certifications in .NET 3.5
    * Spare time experience with both prior to this year

I have a fair understanding of several other subjects, but my problem is.. WEB development - I have close to no experience with it.
I've had a few lessons on basic HTML and CSS, but I've forgotten most of how it works together. I have no trouble finding structure in each technology separately - I just need to get it all working at a higher level.
Structuring everything in tables is an easy approach that I can follow, but I'd like to follow a somewhat advanced approach instead. I don't have the spare time to get a solid understanding, so I'd like the "fast" way

To sum it all up, I'm looking to create a basic website with a decent layout and mouse-over elements. I'll figure out the content - what I need to know is how to tailor the menu and navigation system from scratch.
I'd prefer using ASP.NET as I'm comfortable with Visual Studio.

    So these are my questions:
    * Can you give any tips to get kickstarted?
    * Can you create the skeleton for me (a Visual Studio project, for example)? I can't pay for your help, but I can offer help in the areas I've worked with.

    Thanks for your time.

google "son of suckerfish" (dropdown menu, dropover menu)

There are many free templates, and tutorials for a drop down menu / website layout.

My suggestion to you is to get some of these; and then (using online tutorials, or help from a friend / someone willing to help [who knows what they are doing]), add on to and change these up.

I mean, I could tell you that a drop down menu is really just a hidden div, and set an event to onhover with a piece of JavaScript code to show the hidden div, but without background knowledge that would not make a whole lot of sense.

But try looking for some free templates (google CSS Based Web Templates ;)) and then play with those!

I apologize that I didn't tend to your replies until now.

Thanks for the suggestions on templates. I think I might look into a free CMS as well ;-)

If you're going to study how it works, then don't touch CMS :)
Start with w3schools or something like that. Also, using templates is a good idea, just hit in google
"FREE CSS TEMPLATES" You will be pleased.
