Any suggestion should be, in general, on a case by case basis, but ya I agree with pretty much everything in your post.

All of you are being scammed on this thread.

All someone like PLznate has to do is use his email, scam you faggots for 100b, pretend he's hacked, change his email, and continue on to sell/scam.

All of you are being fooled.

I was SHOCKED my hacker didnt frame me for 10 Bil. Would have been very easy to do as well. Support for R2's PM format

I totally agree. By becoming trusted in the first place makes you a target for hackers just as Obama becoming the president makes him a target for assassination attempts.

What would happen if Obama took millions of dollars out of the bank's around America, claiming it wasn't him yet his fingerprints were on the doorknobs to the safes?

    1. Either the government would trust him and say he wasn't responsible even though he secretely may have stolen the money and have it put away somewhere no one would ever find it.
    2. Not take the risk, fire Obama, and lock him in Federal Prison. Someone must have been smart enough to frame him appropriately. He would not be released until there is significant proof that it was not him who stole the money. And if there is never significant proof, then he would stay locked up forever.

There should be a similar system on sythe. If a user can not proved he was hacked at said time, then he should be permanently banned. If a year later, two years later, three years later, he somehow gets proof. Then go ahead and unban. If he wants to be unbanned enough then he would have no problem paying it back, but Nate as in your case you said you would not pay anyone back. that's completely your decision and you would have to deal with the consequences just as anyone else.

    No PM = No compensation.

    I've been hacked twice.

    1) The hacker hacked my msn and recovered my sythe account via the email process
    2) I have no idea, as the hacker only hacked my Sythe account and nothing else. (Granted my password was different for everything), but still how did he get it >.>. I ran about 5 different virus scammers and nothing came up.

Btw, anybody can hack your Sythe account if they know the email attactched (if they hacked your msn).

You know what your probably right. I ban hundreds and hundreds of scammer/vaders just so one day all the thousands of hours effort I have poured into this site can be flushed down the toilet for a couple hrs of scamming and I can walk away with 5 G's.....

    /Sarcasm

    Your ridiculous.

With this rule, you can scam and blame it on hacks without consequence. That's his point.

Well then both parties should have to pm each other, not just one way

But whenever a newcomer or ignorant member trades and doesn't ask for a PM, he could be scammed with no consequences to the scammer.

It wont matter, not everyone is bright enough to ask for a PM even with your suggestion. Besides if you are a smooth talker and seem trusted, I guarantee you can get someone to trade w/o a PM.

If they HAVE to agree to it before they can even enter the market, then it makes it safe?

What do you guys think about paying people back when they were blatantly asked if they wanted a PM but refused one? Especially when that would have stopped the whole scam to begin with.

    No PM = No compensation.

As Farcast pointed out, there have been plenty of dishonest MM's in the past: Mage Pker, Pyro, The.Godfather, Christina, Mountain Drew, Dorito, etc.

It's been fairly quiet lately, but I think the reprieve came when free trade was removed, since MM'ing gp became such a hassle. I dare say this site's about to relearn some of it's lessons on trust.

Anyway, it's not just about dishonest MM's. There's also the problem of Moral Hazard. If you take away the MM's responsibility for their MSN addy, then they're less likely to take precautions to safeguard it; after all, it's not really their problem if someone steals it.

I agree with this, however I am more inclined to give the benefit of the doubt to people who have deomnstrated trust then keep them banned on the site for having to repay faked scams amount up to ludacris amounts....

Members also HAVE to agree not to break any sythe.org rules, yet all are broken multiple times every day. The point is, not everyone is going to follow this, but it shouldn't mean they are out of their money if they don't. If this rule were to take place, the object of sythe.org would be to scam the person who doesn't ask for a PM.

    No PM = No compensation.

No it doesn't. Newcomers are morons. They do not have money enough to be able to be scammed due to their stupidity. People who makes tons do. If you let your account get compromised its partly your own fault. All I see in this suggestion is a way for sellers to lessen their risk so they can make more money.

I "let" my account get hacked eh... tbh I could post an announcement about my MSN being hacked then just go scam on it and still make thousands of dollars from it and I dont. If you think sellers like me allow our emails to get hacked, or dont take steps to keep them secure, then you are an idiot.
