FireZ was just hacked, but nothing happened due to extra staff security. If we didn't have this, it would be how it used to be, like when MegaMatt's account was used, and several others. I'm not attacking you personally, I'm just saying regular member's accounts are just as easy to hack as msn accounts. You gotta put your self in other people's shoes.

Having the PM loop hole will completely benefit you, but normal users are still prone to be hacked and made to refund. If the hacker hacks their sythe account, they will be completely screwed.

 

I have now recovered my gmail email and the msn associated with it and I am now online on my gmail msn, however dont bother contacting me unless you know me extremely well for now.

Was very very easy to recover, much better then anything hotmail has.

 

I see your point but, as a very trusted a big dealer on sythe u would make sure all your details are safe. its just horrible situation to be it just i think that the victim should be refunded in a certain way comeone if your dealing $1000s a day your going to make sure your stuff is safe and secure i bet u secure u runescape accounts safe as they dont get hacked. i think it depends on circumstances of the situation, and msn's and gmail accounts are easy anuff to recover imsure. if ur msn get hacked just do ur best to stop the hackers from scamming other sythe users and yes they are very legit and i doubt they do it but how can they prove there msn is hacked and they didnt comment the scam, not saying they did but how would u know?

 

Giddy, let's be honest, how often does any of that happen on Sythe? Name 2 instances.


As far as the thread goes, I fully support. It's not our fault as the seller if the buyer does not take personal precautions.

 

Simple msn ip check as long as they have the new msn its rather easy.

but its not victims fault if u get your msn scammed, the person who gets hacked such as video should do there best to make sure no one gets scammed of there msn and post around to let people know this is what i would do to stop people in the community getting scammed $1000s

Well honestly it seems like MOST of the time Sythe account hackings are kids like "OMG i r gots kely0gged and scythe acc hacked!!!1!"

 

Not all the time, look at Thrope. Extra secure password, hacked for no apparent reason.

Sigex uses db leaks, which is no one's fault, yet the account owner is forced to pay or remains banned.

 

fair anuff but did u do to the best u could to make sure know one traded with ur msn? if u did then noting more that could of been ask from u if not then i see they should get refund.

Ya I dont know. If its come to the point where any account or any MSN can be hacked, perhaps its time to quit the market now while your still ahead maybe.

 

This is an insanely stupid and shortsighted suggestion, and I mean that with the most respect. If this rule is instigated, you're literally giving people a free pass to scam anyone and everyone who doesn't ask for a PM, or that has already received a PM in the past and didn't require a second, third, fourth, etc.

On paper, perhaps it looks like an amazing solution to a somewhat rare problem, but the fact is the negatives outweigh the positives 10 to 1.

 

When I got hacked I went into my hotmail email act which has auto msn built into it as well and started telling ppl not to trade my hacker, we were both on the msn at the same time. It was virtually a hacker vs firez on the same msn war, saved 3 - 4 scams right there, then I went to IRC and told Karl and more staff to hammer my account and Giddy threw out the announcement.

So a little team effort there did save a disaster.

 

If it were implemented in the way I suggested it, then everyone would know to get a PM -.-

 

I trade with some of the most trusted on Sythe, even though I know I am talking to the real person we all require pms to each other anyways before any trades are ever done.


If you want to be real secure have who your trading with send you their RS Name in the pm as well as their msn email.

 

You can't honestly believe yourself that everyone would, people would still ignore it. Even if they did ignore it and get scammed, it doesn't mean it shouldn't be paid back or the person banned.

Are you honestly telling me that if I've used an OMM 20+ times before, and I had a small trade I wanted to do, that I'd actually ask for a PM? No, common sense would tell me it's fine.

I don't care how you would implement this idea, in the end, you're still leaving a very large gray area where people can scam someone, and not have any repercussions.
