    No PM = No compensation.

Following the previous trend on this thread which received multiple support, and I think was wrongly archived because whoeever did it failed to actually read the thread. http://sythe.org/showthread.php?t=909389

With the increased amount of MSN hackings, the only way to really alleviate the possibility of scams is to always get a PM from the member being traded with. It has now been proven that @live, hotmail, and gmail addresses can potentially be hacked. The user who owns the email often has no control over whether or not the email can be hacked. As such, it is on the person trading to request, and receive, for the security of BOTH traders.

If an MSN is hacked and the person does not request a PM, and is scammed, then it is their own fault and no compensation will be afforded to them. Additionally, this will help the member who has been hacked as well.

Currently, video has a ton of scam reports against him. However, I suspect that a large majority of them are faked in order to force him to pay back additional money. Most of the reports are from users who just joined this month, yet they magically know to take screenshots of every part of the trade. In my experience, REAL new users do not take 15 screenshots of a trade when dealing with a trusted user. My point is, when an MSN is hacked, what is to stop the hacker from faking multiple scams worth billions with friends? Whether or not this is the case with video is irrelevant, it simply reinforces my argument that unless a PM is given, there should be no compensation given for someone "scammed".

One good method of implementing, then raising awareness for this, would be to have an additional agreement page for every member when entering the market for the first time. For example, code a page that when a member enters ANY market section for the first time, then a new page prompt comes up which they must check the agreement box in order to continue. An example message could be

""WARNING! When conducting trades on Sythe.org, please be sure to always receive a private message from the person you are trading with beforehand if you plan on conducting the trade with an offsite messenger. If you are scammed and have not received a private message from the other member, you MAY NOT BE REFUNDED!"

(insert box here that they need to check) Yes, I agree to this rule"

This would make it blatantly obvious to new members that the rule is in place. It will promote safer trading habits on a whole for the Sythe community, and will help to protect people being scammed by imposters/hackers as well as protecting the victim who has been hacked.

Thanks for reading, constructive criticisms welcomed.

There is no reason not to support, this would benefit both parties (The trader and the buyer) and extra safety could never hurt. I'd like to see this be official.

P.S How do people hack MSN emails? I've had mine forever and I've never been hacked .

    No PM = No compensation.

    Obviously support.

It's always common to ask for A PM, and if you dont its completely your fault.

A private message can stop any hacking, or imposter scam, that is unless the Sythe account is hacked as well, and in which case they would be forced to payback scammed members to be unbanned.

    No PM = No compensation.

I think this is a wonderful idea, it takes like 2 sec. to send a pm to them so its not like its hard to do or anything.

    Support!

This is true, however at least with staff accounts, there are secondary protective measures so that the account cannot be accessed if hacked.

Perhaps there could be some form of an ID system or something, I don't know how that would be implemented though.

With the recent influx of MSN's being hacked, extra precautions should be taken. I 100% support this.

tbh this should be mandatory for all trades above 100m if they want to be guaranteed a refund, i just saw the report of the guy who got "scammed" for a green and divine.... i mean really? never crossed his mind to ask for a sythe pm for such a huge trade?

I suspect that most of the reports against video are faked actually.

But what if people start scamming people claiming they where hacked? If the people didn't request a pm the scammer will get away with it.

They cant claim they were hacked, because they would have to PM the member to continue the trade either way.

I dont support this, because it seems every other day some trusted member is claiming they were hacked and attempts to get out of it. What if that said person is just "claiming" they were hacked, and they infact did steal from others? There are people who fake msn hackings to scam, because atleast somebody will lack the hard proof to show it was legitimate, therefore the person scammed some money, even if they have to repay some. This happens, its fact.

I agree, if any scamming occurs due lack of security, you should be held fully responsible. Its not the victims fault, its the person hacked.

So when my MSN that had 100% fake info on it was hacked then its my fault? And when the hacker fakes 10B in scams and has "proof" of it then I have to pay them back?

Ill take the ban I guess.

    No PM = No compensation.

Its a bit weird when it gets hacked every other month. I'm not going to lie and say mine has never been hacked, but when it was, I did everything necessary to get it under control, and not one person was scammed or even claimed to have been scammed. Most other mods/trusted people never get their msn hacked and if it does happen, I'm sure they are willing to repay the victims. The problem is, most people wont bother with a PM or take proof because they have either used you before, or found your msn linked to a thread. Even if they do get a PM, they probably wont take necessary proof since they fully trust you.

Its only been hacked once, and I repaid everyone scammed.

Thats why you make that problem into a solution by REQUIRING a PM.

Oh, I guess I was misinformed.
Your sythe account is just as much as your responsibility as your msn account. Both accounts are under you, and trusted by people. Requiring a PM is an extra step in covering your ass when others get scammed, I don't like the idea one bit.

Edit: If you link the msn account to your sythe account, you are claiming it is you, and you are backing it up. If you are not willing to do that, simply have a private email address (that you change constantly) and PM people the address when you are ready to trade.
