Why do you believe in God?

A significant change due to a mutation can happen, although it normally ends in death. One theory, called the hopeful monster theory, states that these large scale mutations drive evolution forward. This most likely is not the case but it may occur sometimes. It is unlikely because small scale changes can work wonders.

Why do you believe in God?

I believe in God because for me, there seems like there's no other explanation of how everything was made. Call me shallow minded but that's just how I see the world. & it's nice to THINK that someone is looking down on you. <--- That's just my perspective.

Yes, your claim (or perspective); to many of us here, is simply an 'argument from ignorance'. Google it. It may ahh, 'enlighten' you.

I hope we all can agree that since the universe had a beginning that we are left with two options.

    1. Nothing created something.
    2. Something created something.

Now which one seems more logical.

    3. Nothing created nothing.

The matter has and always will exist. The universe has and will continue to expand and slowly slow down until it stops and begins going back the other way. Then all the matter will fit into a golf ball sized area ending the universe. Then another big bang will occur and the process will start afresh.

Why do you believe in God?

People believe in God because there's nothing to lose in having faith.

    - If there is a God, and you have faith, then you will win in the afterlife.
    - If there is no God, and you have faith, you just wasted some time.

People fear death as well. This fear makes them want to grab onto something for safety - that safety is God.

Why do you believe in God?

Mostly, because I just don't believe that after you die its the end.

I believe that there is an afterlife. And this world is a test, if you pass you go to heaven, if you fail your in hell bro.

Why do you believe in God?

I believe in the God of the Bible, or in other words, I'm a Christian. Aside from my belief that the Bible is true and non-contradictory, there are other reasons why that I believe in an intelligent, timeless, spaceless and all-powerful being. In this short post I will not go into depth about the scientific (and other) evidence. Basically, due to the extreme complexity of nature, the universe, the solar system and the natural laws, there is no way that it all came to be "by accident" or from some random event. If you find a diamond and gold watch in the middle of a forest you aren't going to assume that the rain and wind magically formed it. You would automatically assume that there had to be a watchmaker involved in the process of creating it. Anyways, the miracles of the universe and of life itself cannot be explained by simply pointing to macro-evolution, darwinism, or any other similar view. This is why I believe there is a need for an intelligent designer. This would then takes us to the next level of debate, which is what theistic view is correct.

Why do you believe in God?

I do not believe in god as doing so would make my life worse. I refuse to believe in things that have no evidence for them. Choosing to go against most of the world gives you freedom and security that believers can never have.

Why fear something you will never experience?

A benevolent god and hell existing does not make sense. Either god is cruel as shit or hell does not exist.

Do you just ignore the contradictions then?

I would have to assume that all the laws of the universe boil down to one concept. Ecology is applied biology. Biology is applied chemistry. Chemistry is applied physics. This means to me that all of the laws, such as gravity and magnetism all share a common law that binds everything together. To me, this is not complex at all.

    Designed / Chance / Designoid.

You have fundamentally misunderstood evolution. Wind and rain assume random chance, like a tornado forming a Boeing 747 out of junk parts. Evolution does not work like this. Creatures are designoids, meaning they looked designed but are not. Random chance formed life originally. It has been shown that organic molecules and simple membranes will form through natural processes. Once random chance has created a self replicating creature, it will replicate. There is now nothing random about it. A random mutation will occur in one of the generations that helps it survive. This makes it so that this creature survives and reproduces. The offspring get this trait and live better and pass it down as well. Over time, the frequency of this trait in a population changes. Essentially random chance occurs and then a natural process "selects" for or against it. This random events are no longer random once they happen. Over vast stretches of time it is perfectly possible to create humans but almost impossible for wind and rain to create a watch.

Why do you believe in God?

it is better to believe in something even if its not real than to not believe in anything at all.

So you'd rather use irrationality as a source of dependence?
    That is profoundly fallacious...

Why do you believe in God?

By this logic it is better to believe that Santa exists, monsters exist, a bug the size of a building exists, etc. I do not believe in god as having one (or many) is not necessary for the natural world to work, in my opinion.
