VPSes for botting - Talk about them here!

Does anyone have any idea when more photonvps packages will be in stock? The warp3 xen to be exact.

 

I just recently bought the SeerHost Gold Plan (4GB Ram) and am extremely unhappy for several reasons. The night that I had set my VPS up, things were looking fine. Everything started to go downhill from there. Firstly, I am using very low resource bots and receiving 20-30 FPS and it uses almost 1 GB of RAM. Someone must either be overselling (although I do see that they claim they don't oversell), then someone is sucking the hell out of the CPU. This is incredibly disappointing. I cannot even run 4 low resource bots smoothly. So what am I doing right now? Running one bot on this 4 GB RAM plan for around $65. Don't get me wrong, I've sent all the client global settings to the left. Maybe there is something else that I may be missing? I would like to at least get 4 bots up and running on this VPS. I had hoped and aimed for more, but 4 bots using 96% RAM doesn't seem like I can run more. Oh well, 4 is enough, but the problem now is I can't even run 4 smoothly.

 

I asked them Wednesday about when they'd get more warp 4's and they said the end of the week. Which I assume applies to warp 3 as well. Tomorrow would be the end of the week. Who knows with them though.

 

I need one with 1GB ram. Looking to pay around $15 a month.

 

Ordered a W1 from Photon earlier today. They have yet to activate it.

Im really thinking of canceling and trying a diffrent VPS. As for there claimed 99.9% of all questions being answered within 30 minutes, it took them 1 hour 50 minutes to answer mine. Either im the unlucky .01 percent or they are bullshitting about their service.

That said, i've noticed a few glaring gramatical errors on their site. Really, thats not helping much with there image.

 

1 hours and 50 minutes ain't bad. It took serverFFS 8 days to upgrade my VPS that runs a MC server. And they say that they will reply in 5 minutes.

 

Yer, I am very happy with the resource allocation of my plan at SeerHost. You should try contacting their customer support.

 

Agreed, but even then I don't like that they say one thing yet do another.

I mean, i can understand it being slightly more then 30 minutes (Say 45) but when it takes almost 4x the stated time, I start to get angry.

Edit - Not to mention, the reply that I got was loaded with gramatical errors. If there were no errors (At least, ones that I couldn't spot easily) I wouldn't have been as angry about it taking MUCH longer then stated.

 

I don't believe english is their first language.

Their support is nothing special, they can reply really quickly a lot of the time but the times I have asked something they were hardly helpful. They're still one of the best choices for VPS to bot on RS.

 

Guh, bot's not running.

I've got everything set up right. Start up the bot (Rsbot-Autominer), and a few seconds later the bot just shuts down for no reason.

 

The reason why this is happening is they do not allocate CPU. You could have the best plan and you will get shit all speed because someone else is munching up all of the CPU speed. When my host comes, we will allocate CPU speeds to people so this doesn't end up happening. From what I've heard, they do oversell.

My friend that has your $17 plan. It's pretty silly not to allocate CPU to your lager customers more than your smaller ones.

 

Open one client only, load it in safe mode (standard "S" smashing procedure), then set global settings to the RIGHT, yes you heard me to the right. All of them. It will LOOK terribly laggy, but it is just a delay of information your character is functioning in real time just fine. Then run your bot and work on booting up the next in safe mode. Until you hit X amount of bots.

First of all you really need patience, not to be rude but it's a virtue. "Earlier" today is nothing compared to waiting 3 days for a Xen 4. I waited and it was well worth it. Secondly, I can spot 5 grammatical errors in your post and absolutely none on their site. Lastly your problem is your only on Warp 1 (512mb) your probably running at 1000m on your "run-linux.sh" Right click it and edit the 1000m to 447m if that does not work 347m. 512mb is not much considering your operating system needs a bit of memory as well. One bot might be all you can pull. I suggest Warp 2 or higher.

 

I typed that pretty fast and misplaced a few sentences. While the time it took for them to activate it was a annoyance, the part that made me consider switching to a diffrent vps is that they didn't hold true to there claims of support tickets being answered in 30 minutes of less. While patience is a virtue, so is truthfullness.

That said, there are errors on some pages. Some pages are fine, some have small but glaringly obvious errors. But then again, the few pages that do have errors are pages that not many people ever look at anyway.

I have already changed the run sh file. I'll take another look at it since i might have set the value to low. And yes I know that one is the most I will be able to use on the W1 package. While the W2 can run more bots then then W1, im only planning on running one bot so I see no point in spending extra money for resources that I will, most likely, have no need for.

 

So is your problem fixed or no?

 

I have only used burst.net vps and i loved it.
No lags, Dc and of course it's very cheap. ( i think the cheapest)

 

Changed value a couple times, still fails to start. Well, it starts but crashes a few seconds later.

Im pretty sure its failing because im on dialup.

 

Can anyone recommend me a vps for running 4-5 sorc garden bots on?
