Maxed out someone else's account?

I know that I can recover it. It's no problem with that. The site which I bought it from is now gone I changed the original name onto a pure and can't remember it >.< So the chances of finding him again are slim.

It's just too scary.. I don't want to get it recovered and have my wealth or possibly my account gone.

 

Well you can always transfer your wealth to another account.

Except, lol, you probably won't like to hear how that ended.

Considering you've been playing on that account for the past 3 years, I think its safe to say that despite the original creation date being in his name, Jagex would be more inclined to think that you are the owner.

Never know though, I'd say you're 70/30.

Hey. Like some have said, he probably already tried to recover it and failed, so maybe that's why he pmed you.
And about the pmod thing, recomending doesn't work and you probably won't become a mod just cause of that (trust me on this). But i know for a fact that one of the things they really look at it's how safe your account is.

 

high change hes going to get it back, did u changed the display name? and now the freetrade/wildy is back i think hes going to look at it

Truth be told, if he really wanted the account back, it's highly likely that he could recover it. At this point though if he hasn't contacted you in a while you're probably good. If you bought the account why wouldn't you get creation details though? >.<

 

Ive had something of the sort happen to me, if they recover it from the IP it was created on they have an advantage over you no matter what.

 

If he begged for the account back he's obviously already tried to get it and failed, you should be safe. He's just plain too stupid.

 

thats pretty messed up you've had the account for over 3 years .. plus you've gotten all the 99s on it ... so I don't think it could happen plus you've payed membership so that helps you out alot

but why didn't you just start a new account with an even kooler name XD

 

I doubt it. In three years he prob has new IP and i doubt he kept the one he had 3 years ago. It's always possible, but I doubt it. If you have passwords from last three years and recovery questions on it now, billing details you used, email, ect, u should be ok, even if he did play on it for...maybe a month to get 2 60 skills

I don't think that because you've been using it for so long that Jagex assumes you are the owner. Why? Because I recovered an account that someone else was using, even after he had been using it for 4 years. The account was banned when I got it, though.

So what I am getting at is that he can recover the account if he wants to, if he remembers the information.

 

I've recently been wondering the same thing. One of my very high leveled accounts with a ton of wealth isn't originally mine. I bought it in 2004, it was created in 2001. I got virtually zero info when I bought it from the guy. He tried recovering it in 2006, we got into a tug of war in which Jagex couldn't decide who the original owner was so they locked it for like literally 6 months. I guess he gave up trying because eventually I got it unlocked. I think if he tried it now they'd probably deny him, because it's been soooo long on my IP and I have used a lot of info on the account. Odds are if you've been in possession of your account for years, they'll think you're the original owner.

 

I sold my old main account about a year ago, and even after the recoveries were changed and the new owner's bought memberships and changed the password, I could still VERY easily recover it based off all the info I still have on that account. However, if this person doesn't know the account like the back of his hand, more than likely he can't recover it. You said it yourself, he logged in and would PM you saying to get off his account, obviously he can't recover it because he's tried.
