Which branch do you respect most and why?

Army, Marine Corps, Air/chairforce, or the Navy?

 

Personally, Marine Corps, simply because I feel it's the hardest. But I would treat all of them with utmost respect.

 

The army. Ultimately, every military relies on the infantry. The only purpose of the other branches(navy, air force) is to support the infantry. I respect those who are willing to go to the front, be in the field fighting with a rifle, more than the guys on the ships(no naval battles in 50 years) and the airmen sitting in the bases(no air battles again for over 50 years). The majority of marines serve their contract and leave. The army, meanwhile, has an immense number of career servicemen. They're willing to live the lifestyle their whole life. Please note I'm speaking in generalizations without references to current conflicts. I'm not implying it's good we have riflemen in Iraq, etc.

Army. They probably do the most in terms of service for the country than any other branch.

 

Marine Corps has infantry, and every Marine is trained/prepared to fight. What about them?

 

Army. Even though they're all willing to risk their lifes I personally think the Army gets hit the most in terms of war and see the most action, for the bad part.
I respect them all at the end of the day though for what they do and what they sacrifice.

The air force must be pretty intense when they go to war because of all the skills you need like knowing how to fly a plane, navigate it, fight etc. I doubt I'd ever meet the requirements to fly a plane .

 

I'll tell you this as a currently enlisted Officer (Second Lieutenant, University of Cincinnati ROTC Graduate), that the ARMY sure as hell does most of the combat. Sure the Marines are great guys (most of the time), but their main job is to maintain the area, after we clear it out. I started out as a forward observer for the 1st Battalion, 15th Field Artillery, 2nd Infantry Division Unit; and honestly, I could be in the biggest shit-hole of a city, sometimes alone, for several days. I've since graduated from ranger school and am waiting on my second deployment this April, where I'll be what is known as a "no-quarter" convoy escort.

I request that you treat all branches with equal respect, however, us ARMY folks certainly shouldn't be looked down upon when compared to the Marines.

 

Tbh, the only reason I hate on the Army is because they think they know that they're the 'best' and the only people I know that are in the Army are complete fucking imbeciles. But at the end of the day we're all UNITED STATES soldiers, right?

Sorry to sound stupid, but what is the exact difference between Marine Corps and Army? I always though Army was just a general term for a countries fighting force.

 

New Zealand SAS

 

New Zealand has a Royal Armed Services? Damn, never heard of them. I've worked with the Royal English Guard as well as the British SAS, but never New Zealand.

 

I think Commando's the best even if it's not in the list. One commando = 2 or 3 soldiers.

 

All of them are fine choices really. But, I have the most respect for Navy Seals. The things they do are incredible.

 

Commando isn't a branch, nor a title. More like an objective. You can be sent on a commando mission, but you won't truly be called a commando. Often times the Green Beret's are referred to as commandos.

 

Navy.

I heard that the US Navy Seals go through a test where in they get tied up completely, and thrown in water as a "panic" test. Idk If its true or not, however they do amazing things.

 

Marines are a part of the navy, tbh. I respect them all the same amount which is on the same par with everyone else in the world. Them killing people does not make me respect them more.

 

I would say army as you see more people a part of infantry than you do anywhere else.

 

I respect each member of each branch of the military, regardless of country and fighting tactics, but I have to put my vote to the marines simply because I've got more family and friends in that branch than any other. If my girlfriend's brother ever caught me saying that, he'd murder me in an instant. He's very wrapped up in his army pride.
