    Post Counts

Is it just me or are more and more new users just spamming posts to get a post count??

I notice when someone has broken a rule like 55 people have to post and say, "against the rules"

Here is one example that I just came across:

Total Posts: 7** (27.** posts per day)

EDIT: Total Posts: 1** (45.** posts per day)

    Whats going on! haha :)

It just frustrates me with such posts, It's sort of only just started happening as well, Must be something in the air >_<

I knew what you meant, I was just being one of those people.

People are generally under the misconception that post count adds to trust. This is somewhat true, however it is a misconception.

If I see someone with 1000 posts who made an account in 2008, and someone with 5 posts who made an account in 2007, I would be inclined to trade with the first account correct?
Scammers use this misconception that post count = trust.

Yeah.. and I get annoyed by it. This isn't powerbot. I hate the powerbot community. People shouldn't be allowed to post "Nice..." ect.

Although, many may be posting because your post count is your penis size...

I do happen to see people posting unhelpful posts a lot in the runescape section. Its easy to conclude that they are doing it for high post count too, but i mean how in the hell could you stop it?

I've been here like 4 years and only have a few hundred posts.
I only post in topics that are interesting or in topics where people have questions. Could care less about commenting someones PK videos.

Mainly because people post unnecessary comments on threads which boosts post count. People with low post count tend to be the scammers on Sythe, people see this and tend to spam to boost post count so people "trust" them more. Obviously the smart traders here don't base "trust" on post count, but the newer people of the forum that have no vouches tend to go on post count.

Post count does not equate to trust, although that is what many perceive it to be. Which is why they spam, it's amusing that the ones who want quick post ranks are the usually ones that get banned fairly quickly as well.

You start banning or temp banning people for spamming the forums. I thought there was some limit to what you can say. For example You can just say "i support" you have to leave a comment or some suggestion of some sort.

Well that was a bad analogy.

It's always happend and always will. Generally you can just report them if you catch them posting an insane amount in a short space of time, and they'll be dealt with.

Yes it does sometimes annoy me.. At least be constructive in your post, and take the time to write a few sentences, a couple of word responses aren't going to entertain me when I'm ridiculously bored and as such am mindlessly browsing the forums. I just report the post and move on.

Also, I find this thread quite ironic, I can already see a flurry of 'I agree' posts on the horizon!
