[Grave's Guides] Preventing a PayPal limitation

I keep giving these tips out, yet people don't follow them and always end up limited. Follow them and you're pretty much immune.

    1. WHEN'S A GIFT REALLY A GIFT?
If you sell membership upgrades, it's not a pin. Yes, you won't instantly be limited, but guess what? One complaint and you're fucked. You have no tracking information, which doesn't really matter at this point. PayPal cares about not receiving those fees they hold dear. So they don't care limiting your access to their website if they never make any money off you. If you absolutely have to accept gifts, only accept it from your frequent buyers and in different amounts. This will help you because when you have to provide information on those sales, you can just tell PayPal they're your online friends, etc. I still recommend never sending payments for virtual goods or goods as gifts, and IT DOESN'T EVEN HELP YOU AGAINST CHARGEBACKS OR UNAUTHORIZED CLAIMS. Get this misconception out of your head! If someone charges back or says they're hacked, you're fucked either way. Yes, it'll help you prevent disputes, but that's it.

    2. HOW TO PREVENT MOST UNAUTHORIZED CLAIMS
You, the seller, are responsible for the security of your trades. That seems like a lot, but PayPal expects a lot too. This means you should be able to detect when you're receiving payments from hacked PayPal accounts. Once you fix this, you'll almost never receive an unauthorized claim again. So here's what you do: ask for the buyer's phone number and IP address. Look up their IP on www.whatismyipaddress.com and make sure the location matches the PayPal address! To get the PayPal address, accept your PayPal as goods. This will also prevent what I described in step #2. Call their phone, make sure it's them, and make sure their phone number matches up with their location too. If they make any excuses, DON'T TRADE WITH THEM. Simple as that. It's better to not get paid at all than to get paid and scammed.

    3. FOR LARGE TRADES, THROW IN A REAL LIFE ITEM
This is a technique that works most the time. If you absolutely need to make sure the money doesn't get taken back, follow step 1, 2, and this one: make sure the PayPal has a verified address. Make the personal put as notes that they're buying virtual goods plus a (blank). Ship them the item, which will cost $5-20 more, but at times it's worth it. This will weed out people who put fake addresses, and it'll make you partially eligible for PayPal's seller protection. Best of all, you have proof of delivery if you get limited.

    4. UNDER 18? SIGN UP UNDER SOMEONE ABOVE 18
Don't even make a throwaway PayPal account with fake information. You'll just get limited over and over, and your IP will be blacklisted. If you're under 18, get someone above 18 to make an account and go through the verification process with you. This way if you get limited, you're a real person above 18! Pretty nice, huh?

    5. SELLING ITEM OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER...
When you have a shitload of stock in something and get limited, PayPal will want to know where you got it from. First off, if you have 30 payments of $4.50 as gifts, you're fucked. Go back to step 1 and follow it. However, it's best you save the payments you sent to your supplier, which should also be sent as non-gift payments. If you supply it yourself and don't accept the payments as gifts, you can always say it was for services.

This is a guide I typed out of anger. I followed all these steps except one and got limited, but that was due to my sellers accepting gift payments only. However, since I followed all the other stepped, I should get my account back soon. Thanks for reading!

Well, this is a pretty good guide Grave! I expected this to be full of the basic knowledge like 'verify your account' and stuff like that, but it actually taught me a few new things. Thanks for that ;). I suggest that you use some colors though, it looks quite plain right now.

    There's one thing I don't understand:

Sounds a bit contradictory to me, but I suppose I misunderstood you there.

Chargebacks: They call credit card company, reverse the payment to PayPal
Unauthorized claim: The PayPal the buyer paid you with is hacked
Dispute: They acknowledge that they sent the payment, but say they didn't receive the item

Three different things. Thanks for the feedback

Can people still dispute/chargeback once it says "completed"?

Yes. You clearly don't understand what disputes or chargebacks are.

I would just like to say, I've earned $700+ within the last month,
ALL from tiny sales, around $4-6.
    No limitation.

"First off, if you have 30 payments of $4.50 as gifts, you're fucked."
    I'm not.

Also, ALL of that $700+ has been as a gift.

    No problems.
