Retreive a Vouch from a Closed Thread

Recently while trying to track down some of my old vouches, I discovered an important one was inside a closed thread. After playing around for a while I learned how retrieve the quote which I shall now share with you.


Step 1: Locate the post

For the purpose of this tutorial I will use this thread by Sythe



As you can see the thread is closed and there is no "quote" button

Step 2: Looking at the quote code

Ok by now I'm sure you've noticed that when you quote someone there is a bit of code that comes up. For example:




You can see that there are 3 main elements involved in a quote:
a) The person's username
b) The post number
c) The text
I have labeled that information for you below


Step 3: Obtaining the post number

Ok guys so now you know the layout of a quote. From your closed thread you can copy and paste the Username and the text of the post. But how do we get the post number?

Well this is quite simple. Here is what you need to click:


This will open the post in a new window. From here you need to look at the address bar and copy and paste this part:


So there is no confusion, you copy the numbers after = and stop before the &

Step 4: Form the new vouch

Ok guys now you have all 3 pieces of information (username, post number, text)

Simply insert them into the quote tags:
