Account "Upgrades"

When purchasing account upgrades (from someone on sythe) is there a possibility the "upgrade" is not valid and then my account will be charged NEGATIVE credit? How exactly does this work? Please explain Thanks

If the upgrade isn't valid, then it'll say so, and you won't get credit.

Obviously, you wouldn't pay the person. And if you did, then you're either dealing with a scammer or someone who had an invalid upgrade. If they're legit and had an invalid upgrade, then they'll refund you.

 

I think he's referring to it coming up as stolen and Jagex giving him negative credit because they did not receive money.

To my knowledge this mostly only happens with stolen credit cards, I've never heard of a case where a pin from Sythe or any other cheating site has given negative credit. But there is always that risk, it's just pretty small.

 

I guess my question would be is there a possibility of me redeeming an upgrade and then getting banned because it's invalid or something?

No, the seller accesses your account and applies the upgrade (not pin) his/herself.

Yes. Negative credit is a product of requesting your money back from a credit card, you get your money back, so Jagex takes your membership back.

 

It happened to me by a while back (not sure if can happen nowadays) where pin seller stole pins from stolen phones, which was valid at the time. A few months down the line my acc was put into neg credit. Just be wary of where you buy from.

 

You could also get negative credit if you used a text message or phone call to pay for it. All the person has to do is dispute the charge on the phone bill, and usually the carrier will reverse the charge, which would result in being banned until you pay the credit back.
