Best Armour Setup?

So guys, I'm currently training my range tanker and am deciding what I'll use for armour to stake with.
For the first bit, I'll be semi-welfare on gear.

Option 1:
60 DEF
D med
Obby Cape
Glory
D chain
D legs
Obby Shield
D boots
NOTE == OPTION 1 THE DEFENSE WOULD BE UNRANKED IN HS

Option 2:
70 DEF
Torag's helm
Obby Cape
Torag's plate
Glory
Torag's Legs
Bandos boots

OR feel free to suggest a different stat set, and completely different armour setup

Option one for sure. You don't want them knowing you are a tank. Look for better pieces though, your armour setup is bad.

 

DEFINITELY 70 defense, and you would stake with shield off. might be hard to get someone to agree to shield off and everything else on however, unless they were basically the same account.

torags>karil's by a lot, karil's is the same as black d'hide anyways, one of the biggest wastes in the game imo.

full torags will only give you a -19 range bonus, which can be offset by glory, gloves, etc., and rune crossbow has a very high range bonus.

option 1's defense would be like half that of option 2's, and you would get merked everytime you fought a 70-75 deffer

and finally, as for hiscores, just make your name a bunch of I's and l's or a bunch of 0's and O's

So far 1 vote for each , but some very great points were brought up for 70 defense
I had calculated 60 and the Def bonuses were in mid-200's, while the 70 def setup was around mid-300's
I would be only a few combats lower with 60.

you can take the ? off of obby cape, skill cape is the only better realistic option, and all that beats obby in is prayer bonus. dragon vs bandos boots is a tough choice i guess, its not very important though. fury is worth it if you have 30m+ to spend. Also, if you do want to go with option 1, imo rune kite is much better than obby shield.

I'm not sure which I'd like to go with yet, might try some staking at 60 and see first then go higher if it's no good. Thanks for the idea of rune kite though too, I was thinking granite shield but it and obby are equal so I went with obby

 

yeah, the only cape with better overall stats than skill cape is fc, and your not gonna get that on 1 prayer. Rune kite gives a lower range minus, and has better defense against melee, but granite and obby have higher range def.

 

Oh alright so I might be better to carry both shields then?

EDIT: It requires 78 defense which is why I hadn't considered it. Don't plan on going that high right away.

 

I would definately go with option 2, I mean if your doing low 2m stakes you should be fine. I mean not everyone is going to check your highscores as long as you have a complicated name.

You might better use an accumulator instead of Obby Cape?

 

so your ranging with out any range bonuses? i dont recomend that..

 

Can't use accumulator if you are 1 prayer.

Only thing I can see that would be better is a 99 stat cape if you could be bothered buying a skill

 

yeah statius the level 28 def one and let you def be 60

 

I refuse to get accum because it will give me prayer.
as for the comment about range bonuses, I found that I'd still end up with a positive range bonus, and they don't really matter that much anyways from my experiences?
