    Quitting smoking, advice?

I personally think that cigarettes kinda have of a mental/emotion attachment. I mean I smoked for a while, and I stopped when I wanted to, it was really not that hard. It's just the willing less to do so. It's a mental state.

Get yourself an electronic cigarette. I hear it's EXTREMELY helpful for people looking to quit smoking.

Quitting is going to be hard, beating those cravings is probably one of the hardest aspects of people quitting. I can offer you some advice on quitting.
Keep your brain active play sports start something that is going to benifit your health and help you stop smoking like a sport or something second look at all of the dangers and just try talking to people in the same situation as yourself and stay determined. :)

    Quitting smoking, advice?

i quit smoking myself this year, ive tried quitting for like months with different strategies, patches gum, all that crap. doesnt work. I tried spacing out my smokes, cutting down but imo the best the BEST way is to abruptly force yourself to quit. slightly harder than quitting runescape, I quit RS about 4 months ago. It was hard as fuck but i did it. life got a lot better :)

    Ummm.. find a replacement.

    Think about it like this...
How many deaths is smoking tobacco responsible for?
And how many deaths is smoking meth responsible for?

Way more tobacco deaths, have you found your replacement? XD

I know how you feel, I had my last cigarette around an hour ago, and no, this isn't like, oh yeah I got half a pack left, I already smoked everything I could, also quitting marijuana for 2 months. like 3 days ago, my heart started hurting everytime i take huge breath, sometimes just even if I sit. It happened all so suddenly that I decided it would be best if I quit, I've been smoking for a year, and recently cut down to 1 cigarette a day right after a bowl of some good herb. Good luck to you. =)

there is a shot in florida, expensive as fuck, but if doesn't work you get a full refund, as around your town to see if they offer anything in that, I was thinking about getting it done, but decided against it, but both my dad and aunt got it, walked out of the office and never smoked again, that was about 2 years ago.

Your probably going to hate this answer. I use to do Dip(spit tobacco you put in your lip) and was addicted to it for a while. I quit cold turkey which sucked balls. I chewed gum etc. I know my grandfather when he quit he chewed toothpicks to calm the habit a little.

Addictions are 100% willpower. Any addiction can be kicked if you convince yourself that you don't want it.

See, it wasn't until the 90s that "quitting smoking" really became a thing. My grandpa smoked for years, and when he decided he wanted to quit, he quit. Simple as that. Friends of mine, parents of friends, and grandparents of friends, none of them had any problem quitting cold turkey. So why is it so hard now? Because society tells you it's hard. You learn that it should be a difficult process so you instinctively want to look for some method to quitting when really all you have to do is stop.

You want to lose weight? Don't grab another cookie. You want to quit smoking? Don't buy another pack. It's willpower.

Edit: Before you suggest that comparing an eating addiction to a smoking addiction isn't a fair comparison, they are very much the same. Both of them release endorphins which help calm nerves and achieve a sense of pleasure.

    Quitting smoking, advice?

I smoked for a few years and quit cold turkey one day after seriously thinking about it. I thought about the money, health and social implications I've already faced and the ones I'll be in the future if I continued on the path. I was never ADDICTED but craved one once in a while. Seeing people smoke really tugged at me though and made me want one but it was pure wrenching willpower that helped me through. Two years later, I find the smell and sight of someone smoking repulsive.

How can you possibly post a real guide to quitting smoking when you can't do it yourself? Not meaning to be offensive but seriously?
Many push it to the back of their mind but it does bother many of them.
    WTF?

Well I've been working on qutting dipping and that's just a pain, after 2-3 years I've been so accustom to popping one in when I get done eating or when I wake up. I've been good for about 2 weeks now just having a snus here and there. It's tough but you have to keep yourself away from it.

If you have built a huge addiction it's really challenging but one thing is really important; You must believe in yourself. You got to believe that you can quit.

Start of by setting a quit date. (Don't make up an extremely large date, EX; 2 YEARS

You also have to know when you quit, it's going to be hard. You might get headaches, and your going to think about it non-stop and crave for nicotine.
If you still can't quit use nicotine substitutes.

Also, isn't there something you have always wanted? Save up the money!
You should save up those extra cents and dollars in a certain jar or a money holding place and when you have enough money, you can firstly think about how badly smoking messed you up financially and you can get some cool too!

    Good luck!

I seriously don't know how people get 'Hooked' to smoking..
And yes i have tried it, several times and it's not addicting.
I suggest cutting down how many smokes you smoke a day and each day smoke 1 less till you have stopped.

Idiot. Just because you don't become addicted doesn't mean that thousands that die a year don't either.

    Quitting smoking, advice?

I personally don't smoke so I can't give my own opinion but according to my friend he said he successfully quit among by occupying himself with something when he had a craving, for example do some weights when you get a craving (with a friend if possible as he/she can stop you if you give in) your brain will associate cravings with weights eventually ad you will stop gettin the cravings eventually.

This is how my friend said he quit anyway, I did slap a cigarette out of his mouth a few times when he was quitting.
