Im just SICK of this !

Anyone who joined after Free Trade was released who is buying or selling large quantities of gold and refusing to ever go first or verify their gold should be outright banned. The biggest risk factors for scammers are:
*Feb 11'ers with several vouches from other Feb 11'ers
*people with names like "goldmerchanter" or "trustedgold"

IMO anyone who hasn't been on the site from before free trade should have an automatic TWC which can be removed after, say, five good trades (NOT including upgrade/GFX services) with any member who doesn't have a TWC. It wouldn't be hard to remove if you were legit, but scammers would be put off by it.

 

We wont be going to that extreme, TWC's are earned, not just thrown around on users for the heck of it.

 

Well, it would be earned. Anyone on sythe who's done a few trades would recommend trading with newcomers with EXTREME caution because of their ridiculously high propensity to scam.

 

I think if the seller refuses an omm won't go first and won't verify items in game they should be temp banned until the items they claim to own are confirmed, if not done so within 48 hours they should get permed.

 

All i can say is, if the other player offers an OMM to these guys. And the other player is offering to pay the fees.
And they still refuse to do it, , wont that be a red flag?

 

Yea, exactly scammers give themselves away straight away, refusing to verify ingame, especially not wanting a OMM or going first.

 

Punishing someone for refusing an OMM is ridiculous, they have done nothing wrong.

Im a new comer and non trusted member as I havnt done a single trade yet but when I found these forums Id say I didnt trust anyone, even OMMs/Mods/Admin, if youre new to Sythe and dont want to get scammed status on a forum means nothing until you stick around for awhile and see how it all works

 

Not really.

In most cases I don't want to put up with the hassle of using an OMM, and most of my RSGP is split up on several chars, it'd be a pain in the ass to verify 10+ chars worth of GP, or to put it all on one char.

Does that mean I should be banned, even though I've never scammed, and never plan to?

 

I get this alot when buying small amounts for gp like 20M off leechers.

They expect me to go first or for me to get an OMM and pay the fees.

If anything they should be paying the fees. Not Me.

It is common sense to trade carefully with anyone who you have no past experiences with. The same rule applies in real life. Throwing around trade with cautions does not but lower the value of the rank. If a new user notices that a ridiculous amount of users have the rank, they will be much less wary of it.

Use that thing between your shoulders. Be wary of people who refuse to verify their goods, to use any type of MM and have a suspicious history.

If users have to be so spoon fed and lack so much commonsense, maybe being taken advantage of here will prepare them for the real world, where the losses have a much greater value.

 

if i were new to a site, i wouldnt trust anyone on it. it could be a site formed to scam.

 

I think if you agree to go first but want to verify the item first and they log out or start the "oh shit man running out of time send paypal first" its reasonable but otherwise your shooting bullets into a crowd.

Edit: If they think your a potential buyer they are more likely to show you the goods then verifying because someone said to.

Although the staff are there to enforce the rules, I don't currently see one forcing people to show their items.

Anyways, I sense a scam when I smell one, usually, they are trying to "control" you in every part of way, they are rushing, they are desperate, they act as if they want it now even you said later. Only been scammed once for 2m when this person is selling me an upgrade for 4m and asked me to go 50/50, he seemed pretty legit, but at the end, it just taught me not to trust newcomers anymore.
