Looking to buy a VPS? I think?

Hey guys I'm looking to host my minecraft server on a server but how would I go about doing that. I will be having about a maximum of 5 friends playing at this time so I don't need anything super good/expensive. I also would like to keep my PC free of programs I don't need. Currently I'm using hamachi and it sucks balls because some friends wont use it or download it and it also screws with my networks. I'm pretty computer smart but new to the server hosting area so please enlighten me and try not to mindfuck me with a ton of gibberish haha.

    Thanks,
    Jeff

Well to start off you might want to try to get a hoster, seeing as I don't know of any free ones, you will have to pay for one, your best option is to get a no-ip found here the no-ip simply prevents people from having your ip and DoS'ing you or flodding, or whatever, basically the no-ip is for your protection, I know only your friends will be playing it but people can still get it.

I would also assume you need to have some kind of C++ coding or C*. I've never hosted a Minecraft server, so I have no idea. The main thing also is that you would need to port forward. I won't even bother doing that, seeing as it's complicated, you can Google that.

Besides that, there's nothing much to it, if you encounter any problems your best option is to search Google, or YouTube. It will help a lot.

I'm not sure if this is how you would host a Minecraft server, but this is how you host RSPS's.

Port forwarding is cake. The server is as simplebas running it... I don't know how vps work but I'm willingbto payvfor one. It will just be friends so I'm not worried about being ddosed. Mainly people I know Irl and if it does get ddosed I can kick there ass... So prettymuch I'm just looking for the simplest form of hosting a simple server and maybe I can get enough to host a few other servers.

Well servers run cheap now a days, you can get a pretty good one for about $12.99 a month, if you are looking for one I'd recommend looking at www.vpsland.com, it's the most popular/trustworthy one.

I do like the vpsland one... What exactly do you to set it up? Just access the vps via webclient? Or.... idk. I'm a complete newb to vps.

No, you access it with your RDC.

This is what it looks like:

To get to here simply search "Remote" in your start menu.

Oh I see. Ok I understand remote connecting. Now is it a fully functional OS? For example could I just transfer my server remotely and run it? or is it a bit different.
