jewish overrepresentation in ivy league schools

I think it has to do with universities offering scholarships to attract a more diverse population to their school.

 

It may be due to the fact the on average Jewish people work harder than other faiths.

 

Or have better connections.

 

I personally find this racist- as a Mexican-American male I don't believe anyone should be given grants or scholarships according to skin color or heritage.

 

I think it is an idiotic assumption to believe there is more to this than meets the eye. It may be because they work harder and it may be because some of their family members went to the college before them. 1 jew that has 4 kids that all go to the same college as their father could contribute to this statistic.

My point. They have connections. As far as overrepresentation goes, who's to decide what's too much? Too many white people in movies to begin with, too many blacks on the radio, too many mexicans doing manual labor. the opinion of such representation is in the eyes of the onlooker

the percentage of people of any given race in ivy league schools should be identical to the percentage of the population they make up if any race is to be properly represented

now, with this in mind, take this into account.
jewish people make up 3% of the population.
jewish people make up 30% of the ivy league student population
there are 10x more jewish people than there would be if there were fair representation of all races.

 

Except statistics show that jewish people are on average smarter then any other race, the smartest race on earth has more representation in the ivy league schools? shocking.

It is my opinion (which I can justify) that they're better connected and can afford the expensive education. They control many of the top academic outlets if they don't outright own them.

 

Jewish families, as well as Asian families, generally place a high emphasis on education. There is nothing inherently special about Jews or Asians.

This, it's embedded in them from young; comparable to puritan ethics.

But I'm still of the opinion that they're 'connected' and help each other out (which is natural).

 

You do realize that Christianity makes up a large population of those schools, as well as other schools throughout the U.S.

 

I doubt they're being let in for any unjust discriminatory reasons.

 

There could be a lot of reasons, Jewish people could by chance be better at a certain subject from either by inheritance or interest which would give an advantage to them. Also they could have less distractions as their interests of another religion or faith will be more likely to be different.

 

And they say Asians are overrepresented. You think this will cause people to cease the "Asians are overachievers" stereotypes? I'd much like to pull out my TI-89 without being criticized lol.
