If you are using a Mac, you can use JollysFastVNC for VNC viewer and you can use the Terminal on your mac to log into your server

Check my sig for a guide to purchasing a VPS, theres a link to KeroKeroCola's guide to setting one up as well.

Nope, they weren't down. They just had to scramble to put up their new node "chrome." Which is up now, I just received my warp 4 finally.

I really wish I could help you, but I know little about mac.

If I was looking to run 2 bots at the same time (fighter and miner, or soul wars and miner, or smelter and miner) what specs would I need? Who would you recommend and how much a month would it cost?

VPSes for botting - Talk about them here!

So I'm looking through my VPS control panel and I notice this little bit of information:

I was hoping someone could explain what Disk Space, Memory, and Bandwidth mean. I am running a SW bot 24/7 on this VPS. So I am thinking Disk space is not important for botting, memory is the amount of RAM my bot is using right now, and bandwidth is my monthly limit of how much I can bot. Any input?

    Thanks guys :)

Bandwidth is the amount of internet traffic you are using - rs doesn't use that much so it's no worry.

Memory is the RAM, and the more you have, the more bots you can run. 70% seems healthy.

Disk space is things stored on the drive, and how much space they take up. As you are just botting, you clearly aren't using much (3% :p)

    Who is that VPS with?

1GB will run two of: fighter, miner or smelter. 1GB to run SW. A 2GB Ram plan would be perfect. I recommend PhotonVPS Warp 3 plan, but that's my opinion there are many providers. I wrote a guide to set up photon in my sig.

Correct. You figured it out before asking, will you have enough bandwidth to last the month?

    heres mine, LOLWUT

Photon Warp 4 plan would do, but it is expensive, the service is worth the price. There are many others but some providers do not allow rs botting, which is why I stick with my provider. A good example is 123systems cancelling all rs botting accounts suddenly, so research before you buy.

    I use PhotonVPS.

One thing many botters don't take into account when buying VPS's is the amount of CPU power. CPU power isn't as important for most web uses of a VPS, but for a Runescape botter, this is key to getting your bots to run properly.

I would be willing to bet that with 2gigs of ram, they are giving you less then 2Ghz of CPU, probably single core even, lmao. This is heavily limiting you, as 2gigs of RAM with a decent CPU (2.4ghz+ dual core) should handle around 8 bots if you have your settings correct.

Below is a chat between me and PhotoVPS representative through their live chat system.

Now then, if you don't understand what the above chat is talking about, or just too lazy to read, here is the explanation.

What I learned about PhotonVPS is that instead of limiting each VPS to a set amount of CPU like 99% of VPS providers do, they leave the entire CPU to be shared among everyone. This leads to a number of problems, for example, if someone was so inclined they could create a program that was heavy on CPU and light on the RAM. When they ran this program on the lowest VPS, it would take all of the CPU from the other VPS's on the same server, thus crashing the server for all 20 people on it.

    Simple Example.

Imagine each server's CPU as a piece of steak, and each VPS as how much you eat. A proper VPS company would cut the steak into specific portions and give that out to you, ensuring that everyone gets a proper amount that they paid for.

PhotonVPS on the other hand, drops the entire steak in front of you, the customers, and all of the customers are forced to fight over it. This could allow someone who paid for a very small portion of the steak (the 256mb package) to take the entire steak, leaving the other 19 customers to starve.
