Recently this has started to worry me. I am the type of person that if i saw someone getting bullied when I was younger I myself would have felt like crying. But now that im older, the world doesn't revolve around bullying, yet more seriously scammers all over the net.

For example people who scam and hack accounts. For games like runescape only time and effort is lost for the victim, in terms of steam, this is money people worked hard for and have now lost their item that they rightfully bought.

What this topic is about is the Morals of scammers? I ask my fellow members, if you ever had the chance to scam someone that was stupid enough to give you enough information, or go for a trade first, would you? Don't forget this is just like you walked into that persons house because they forgot to lock it, and you picked up their PS3 and all their Games...

i wouldnt feel bad about scamming an oblivious person out of some money. all it does is teach them not to be so mindless and dare i say stupid.

Hmm that's interesting actually, i guess more importantly would be "would you take advantage of someone who you think will give you that information" meaning, would you try to trick a person too? That i believe is the worst case scenario where your first intention is to scam and not to trade at all.

No I wouldn't ever scam anyone, and I would feel guilt for days afterwards if I did. Then again, I care more about other people than myself so it can't be helped.

See that reminds me of me... what i don't understand is, is this a universal feeling that all people should have (in regards to general criminals). And what is it that is wrong with people who scam/cheat/lie and commit crimes.

i dont think the matter is: do scammers lack a certain feeling.

i think the matter is: do scammers feel relevant feelings(empathy) as intensely as non-scammers?

it is not a universal feeling.

should is a highly subjective word. avoid it unless you want ideological right and wrong good and bad answers.

people are diverse. thinking that criminality is caused by one root factor is simplistic.

I follow the idea of "Do to others what you would have done to yourself" [or however it goes] pretty strongly.

If I wouldn't steal the multitude of available bikes from where I live, which could've honestly given me 2,000$+ by now, I wouldn't scam anyone on a website with repercussions.

I was taught right from wrong and i have empathy, stealing is a pathetic and dirty act.
You did not earn the items, you do not deserve them.
Perhaps put this in your sig so people know who they are trading with.

Since I was very used to luring, I hate luring like poor people. People who have 5M and they'd lose it all. I never did that and never will, the guilt would be really bad. I've only ever scammed people in that sense, through luring, for people who obviously would be effected by it but to a much lessened extent. Runescape is afterall just a game in that sense.

In a non-virtual situation I would never do it. As a loose believer in karma I think there is just no point to it, what goes around comes around. In all fairness, even if it doesn't, why be a complete cunt?

I just started staking a lot so I have a few things I'd like to contribute.

    3 Things

    1) When I was brand new I did get scammed a few times and I hated the feeling.

    2) I would never scam somebody, unless they were clearly trying to scam me and I pull a fast one:
In a 262m stake some kid tried turning on a staff at the last second.
So i put on special attack without him noticing.
I had both eee and master wand in my inventory so that was a nearly guaranteed win.

^I have no problem doing this

    3) If I feel that I have accidentally taken money from someone, I'll give it back.
I mistakenly staked (and lost) 200k in a 2m stake. I gave the remaining 1800k to the guy afterwards and we're good friends now.

Scamming is bad, you should feel bad if you scam.
As your knowingly taking someones hardworked money/items.
Even if they scam, you shouldn't scam them.
    It's common sense yo.

Well, I'd daresay this isn't true. Just because people scam, doesn't mean their horrible person with a lack of character traits. It just means their value system is different, some people may not consider GP or pixels a tangible item and their activities a conquest on a victimless crime (which it isn't, it's a lack of perspective). When I first started playing games a little over a decade ago, this is exactly how I felt. I was (and still am) the person to never even take a dime from someone and if I saw someone getting bullied/robbed/scammed I'd do what I could to make help them out but online it didn't carry on as pixels were just pixels and everyone was just here to have fun and not be restricted by real life character traits. This was especially so for me playing games with split screen and just simply looking down at the other player's location (which I still very much do ;)) I've since learned the impact of many of those things, and that they can range from mildly annoying to debilitating. The first few times I was scammed/tricked on different games I shrugged it off but when the numbers increased (i.e. time/effort) for such a silly setback it incensed me and as such I don't scam/cheat any more in ways that negatively affect others. I'll still bot and buy/sell gold all I want as it doesn't harm anyone.

If someone is stupid enough to offer it on a plate to me then yes I will more than likely take it.

    However.

I wouldn't go out of my way to scam someone. I wouldn't think about keylogging or phishing although I do have friends that do it and have made max cash from doing it.

Theres a limit to my guilt I would never clean someones bank either if i ever got the chance. I would like to think I would leave atleast 50% of their bank and if they had less than 10m I wouldn't even touch it.

If they just had a Phat on the other hand...

    edit:

I would never scam for real money either, that is lower than low.

Really, not in a "Ban Me!" type of way, I think that a lot of people who get scammed need to be. When it's something like a Runescape account, It's a bit of a "Wow.." when you get scammed.. but it teaches you a bigger lesson that's worth much more than a Runescape Account, it potentially could stop you getting scammed for something much, much more than a Runescape Account at the end of the day.

I have never scammed someone and never will (except in retaliation if they scammed me) simply because I've been scammed myself and know how much it sucks. Basic empathy prevents me from wanting to do that to another person.

Runescape is just a game. Why scam others? I feel sorry for people who get scammed and sometimes help them out.

No I would never do it.
I've upgraded and quested several accounts and I've had the opportunity to scam/hack, but do I do it? No. What do I have to gain, a bunch of pixels that will be useless in a few years?

My 138 RS account that I sold to someone (He got scammed by a fake MM/buyer) was hacked and the hacker got the account PERMANENTLY Banned for "Account Hijacking". That's 4 years gone to waste...

Hacking/Scamming is really sad on ANYTHING be it the pixel world or the real world. The only thing they gain is temporary satisfaction.

This monday, I got scammed for a santa hat.
Yesterday, some faggot charged a dispute and filed a chargeback for $88, and I think that I am going to lose this case.

Today, I bought two imposter msn addresses because I felt that I should scam, too.

But once I brought myself to, I could not do it. I couldn't shake off the pain I felt when I got scammed and could not let others be victims because of me. Getting scammed feels like you just get anal raped, and I am NOT going to anal rape anybody.

No, I am better than scamming fucktards. They can go suck my dick and should be raped through every hole in their body, including their nostrils and ears in hell for eternity.

I am a better person with a stronger heart,

    No I will NEVER scam.

I swear on everything I have.
