All MM's must use email posting in thier thread, and send pm & post.

I'm talking to a scammer now, and I filed a report on him.
He literally made a fake MM account, and a fake email, and pm'd the person.
A person nearly fell for it to, and someone legit may have been blamed.

I think you should not only have to PM people, but have a manditory POST on the MM thread, just to confirm that you are talking to _____ and _____, about an MM for _______.


Just a suggestion, doesn't have to be taken serious.

Something along those lines could work.

Personally, when I MM, I always send a PM to both parties saying something like "Confirming my MSN, [email protected], I have been asked to MM a trade bewteen "enter sythe name's here".

So far, it has worked. Another thing that could be done, is that you could require the users to PM you first, and then you can reply, that way you know who you're talking to.

 

I go through all precautions anyway, I make them PM me the conversation we just had, I constantly take screenshots/video. I have folders for every single trade I have had full of screenshots of every bit of conversation, every paypal (or other methods) and every PM. Everything is checked over twice. if a person falls for a scam like this then it's their own fault for not checking.

 

I find it could be too tedious for MM's to have to PM everyone everytime, especially people that may not even end up using their service. The PM feature is there as a precaution, if people want to risk it by not asking for a PM then that's there choice at the end of the day it is their stupid mistake and hopefully they wont forget it next time. I could also see a lot of new threads complaining about Message Box space if this was to be implemented.

 

I fully support. I personally do that already, so it wouldn't affect anything I am already doing. I have both people I'm MMing for post in my thread, and then I post after them with "I am talking to you both on MSN now" or something along those lines, and I also offer to PM as well if they want.

 

Slizz, honestly, some people who are new may not know about how to keep themselves safe, and I don't think it should be at their own risk.

And shoop, PM's don't always mean their safe, people have been making fake accounts of people with the same name, and that has caught a few people I've talked to off guard =/

and RsProd, I like that idea Them pming you and you pming back means they can't get impostored by a fake sythe account with a similar name , I like that idea much better then mine :3

When I was mod back on RSBot, Killa came up with the most simplest thing. Let the omm/mod/admin/whoever pm you their msn. That's all lol.

 

Before i trade with anyone, i ask them to pm and paste me their email (im talking to them with) and the convo were having now.

Never failed me, thus the "Never Got Scammed".

 

Great idea. The staff have done this already and helps prevent scams.

 

That idea's similar, I think a combination of all the ideas would be awesome
