Planet could be unrecognizable by 2050

It makes me wonder what the state of the earth will be like by 2100, and I'm not feeling good about it. Am I the only one that finds this quite frightening?

 

Honestly you believe that? Latest official current world population estimate, for mid-year 2010, is estimated at 6,852,472,823. So an extra 2.2 million people are going to eat 7960 years worth of food. I highly doubt it.

Thats a rough estimated timescale and population for previous and future years. Yes the growth rate is alarming but no way in hell are what the 'scientists' said going to be true. If it is we suck it up and plan for world war 3.

Maybe this i why i don't agree to the whole Help feed the other countries thing, maybe it makes me a bad person, and yes i know the children didn't choose to be born in such an over crowded area, but if its going to lead to the downfall of ALL of us, take one for the damn team :S

 

Theres a common misconception that you hold.

Yes it is the 3rd world countries that are the reason our population grows at such an alarming rate.

However it is because, the women get raped, there is no sex education, there is no birth protection.

I forgot the terms but if you study population, the shape of graphs is consistent between modernized countries and 3rd world countries.

I think a modernized countries population spread looks like this:

This is the trend of modernized societies, the higher the pyramid, the older the age.

However with 3rd world countries, it is consistently different.

Instead of being spread out like that, it looks a bit like this.

You get the picture, they simply don't survive to live an old age.

Sure you could decide not to feed them, however you must educate them, give them birth control, give them basic sex education, as well as arithmetic etc. If a condom was made available to every person wanting to have sex in these countries, then less people will be born.

I don't agree with the help other countries thing at the moment either.
The government spend millions helping other countries then 10 seconds later they announce they are in debt by billions, what do they do... Go and spend another few hundred million on some other country.
Some people in the UK are poor and they need help, why help others when you can help your own.

The article is all bullshit. Same predictions were made in 1950-2000. I remember I was reading an old article where they were saying, that in 1980 there will be no oil or other non-renewable resources. LoL. And I don't think it's bad that we have more and more ppl on a planet. We still have space for like trillions

Yes! Geography for 14 year olds is going to solve ALL the worlds populataion problems.

New oil wells and stuff have been drilled. If we carried on using only the ones that were around when this prediction was made then we would have run out by 1980.

I agree, help your own people before you help others. But to help the West can cancel debts to the poorer countries at no cost to themselves. When a country is in debt to another the UN starts organizing the country's spending by cutting funds to schools and hospitals and stuff to free money up to start paying the other country back. No debt = more money to spend of education and stuff.

I know what your talking about by the lines, and i suppose we COULD just give them education, and the proper tools to slow their birth rate, but i assume it would be easier to just not feed them :x. I see this as abit wrong myself, but until my country solves its own problems, i dont think we're in any shape to solve others ^_^

You basically have just accepted that both both options would help alleviate the problem.

Option 1 - Immoral, to let them starve to death. (You can look up the excruciating pain that happens when one starves to death)

Option 2 - Moral, to educate them.


But I do agree with you the argument that, we've got our own homeless to feed first. However theres one shocking truth. The government doesn't care.

We could start by killing idiots like you, however there would be too much paperwork involved.

That's true. If we keep feeding them, they'll never learn how to create food of their own, and they'll keep reproducing.

2050 will affect most of us
2075 will affect most of us (if life expectancy raise is true)
2100 will affect the lucky few of us

Anything after that will affect our Children, Grandchildren etc.
Think about their future, not just ours.

 

I think the world needs to open up there eyes.... if this goes on my children wil be in a fucked up world and maybe i will live to see that...

There is going to be some big changes up coming 10 years... think of fuel and food...

 

Maybe they should consider putting a limit on the number of children you're allowed to have. I see people having 5+ kids(even in my own family) and it's just selfish and disgusting. Either that or use a condom.

 

A limit on children is too hard to control and birth control isn't that easy to come by in 3rd world countries. Not to mention it's against some religious beliefs to use contraception.

 

Lets bomb china and then we are down over a 1 billion people. Or we could always stop giving black people money for having kids.

Anyway, if we all went back to living on the basics, we would be good.
