Hitler was not a christian, he used religion as a tool but if you read his book he was far from a theist.

Although I am an agnostic atheist, my parents force my to go to church. My church teaches me that God will forgive you for everything that you do, whether it be minor or even suicide. I'm not sure how other religions may portray it, but if that's what they're telling me to believe, I guess I can be an atheist and not worry about it if there is a God.

I think saying it is offensive to society is quite offensive in itself. I actually don't know if I'm religious or not. I don't pray, I don't wish and I don't really care. To me, I'm born; I live, and I die. Nothing more, nothing less, but to insult somebody elses beliefs because it doesn't fit in with your own opinionated story is quite wrong, sir. We all have an Opinion, and I think yours is unfair.

 

I completely agree with the OP. I am an atheist myself, but have always held the same opinion about religion. Clearly it's not worth it in situations like the Middle East where people are killing each other over it. However, your average local church is definitely of value simply because of the sense of community and goodwill it brings. To insist that something like that should be disestablished is just illogical.
However, I don't particularly agree with the whole "if there's no God anything is permissable" statement. I doubt that most people on the street would tell you they've never committed murder because it breaks one of the Ten Commandments; more likely it's because of their morals and empathy as humans.

 

The people [Christians*] are only living their life with kindness and such only because its part of their religion, most atheists are kind, and if they are kind its because they want to be kind. Also I have only really met a few people who even follow a religion so devoutly. One flaw of Christianity is that sinning is a joke, anyone can "sin" and then go tell a priest later and it be alright... which doesn't make sense to me...

I think its good that people can find something that they believe in. But when they try to prove that god is real or fake it turns into a very controversial topic, that's very pointless. I mean, they preach peace, harmony, love, and spiritual values, and people turn that completely around saying they're right and you're wrong.
