A voucher is commonly referred as a coupon aswell.
It is usually a piece of paper or cardboard which you can take into a store/give to a person and get a discount or free item.

The more vouches someone has, the more trustworthy trader they are, imo.

Vouches on here? or like a marks and spencer voucher so i can go and get my dinner with that? lol.

Vouch mean's when someone has done a legit trade, they leave a little comment about the seller or the buyer saying that there legit.

    What is a voucher?

Vouches on here shows how trustworthy a person is. Vouches can be given after a product have been bought by a buyer.

    What is a voucher?

That couldn't be any more untrue. Quality > Quantity any day. I have approx 120-150 vouches, almost all ranging in value anywhere from $50 to over $500 from gold sales, MM's, and more. 95% of which, the other person went first.

Theres people out there who may have 100-ish vouches, but they aren't worth shit. They sold a guide to 20-30 people. Maybe what... 100-500k each? Big deal. Traded with a MM 20 times. That's another 40 vouches right there if both MM and the other party involved in the trade vouch each time. Maybe they traded with another person but they went first. That doesn't show much in the way of trust other than the fact they didn't chargeback. And there's no telling as to what the actual value of the trade was.

The more vouches a person has, does NOT make them a more trustworthy trader by ANY means. It just means they have done more trades and talked a bunch of people into typing "VOUCH" for them.

Not always but it certainly helps. Think of it as feedback or performance reviews.

    What is a voucher?

    Lmao.

It's a common misconception on Sythe (one that really pisses me off for some reason) that the word is a voucher. It's not. It's called a vouch.

The verb 'to vouch' is to guarantee, to give surety or to assume responsibility; "I vouch for the quality of my products".

On Sythe it happens after a trade (most of the time) - you vouch for the other person. You leave them a message, as they do to you, explaining briefly the trade (e.g. Vouch for Kayosman, bought 5 trillion gp for $1, I went first). This is a vouch.

Vouches are usually used to determine trust, but as N4NO said it is the quality not the quantity that is most important.

I only wrote this because no one had actually fully explained what a vouch was.

    Hope I helped :D

    What is a voucher?

This Above is basicaly everythign accept i think The Quantity of the vouches you have does matter depending on who vouched you, like nano said it depends what trade you did, if it was like a big deal with real life money, but also i think it depends who gives you a vouch also, a vouch from a mod or respected member is always going to be worth more than a vouch from a person who has signed up a week ago and isnt active.

i might be wrong but i think im right :p

    What is a voucher?

    Yeah pretty much.

    Who vouched you.
    What they vouched you for
    and a big one.
    WHO WENT FIRST?

The three biggest things that come in to play when evaluating a vouch.

You can have Thousands of dollars worth of vouches. But if you are always going first then you don't have much of a trust factor built up (In my eyes at least)
This does however go back to what I said in my earlier post as well. It's still nice to see someone able to consistently complete trades, especially if they are worth a lot.

When all is said and done, just do a little research on the other persons vouches. It may save you one day.

    What is a voucher?

Vouch basically means that you traded well with someone else and they gave you a vouch so that others can see that you have done a legit trade with them.

More vouches = more legit trades = more legit trader

I agree with alot of the things n4n0 said. Quantity of vouches means little, if anything a joined in 2011 with 40 vouches sets off alarms. I only have 50 or so from years of sythe for example. I recall members that join and acquire lot's of little vouches for free services, pin sales etc...soon after they are banned for whatever reason. It's common to see. But people still think amount of vouches mean trust.

I would much rather have a vouch thread built upon quality of vouches, satisfied customers, a mixture of people trusting you with different aspects, and a combination of going first and allowing others to build trust as well. I don't mind going first to the few whom I think are trying to build a legit business. Being vouches by mods are always good as well, I am never after vouches I just let them come to me naturally.
