The new profanity filter

Now that you can pretty much openly say anything you want


do you still get muted or what?

because there is still an "offensive language" thing on the report button

I'll be using the profanity filter often. I enjoy cussing and cuss a lot IRL and on the internet.

 

I think of it like this:

Swearing to objects and NPC's won't cause a mute.

Example: Omg, fucking piece of shit canon decayed again!

Swearing against players can/will cause a mute.

Example: LoL, get lost nigger.

Since the report button is made for offensive language, only offensive language should be bannable. And if someone has profinity filter set to be able to see swear words, you cant report them for swearing on a object when you enabeled it yourself. However, if someone are using offensive language torwards you; it might be offending and you have the right to mute.


Note: I've been muted for 24 hours for using an auto-talker, and I did not offend anyone. (Might be because they dont like macroing, but mutes are made for offensive language, not auto language, so you never know)


Edit after NuEra's question: You should keep in mind that discriminating/racial/commenting behavior against NPC's can be offensive against some players.

Going to use hes example:

*walking past a NPC*: Sup nigga

This might and will probably be offensive against any black person.


Just use your common sense tbh.

Yes I should have added, racial/sexual discrimination versus a NPC can and most likely be offensive towards certain people.

 

you can probably get muted if you are directly disrespectful to a specific person. You can also probably get muted for preaching hate and saying things such as "Fuck Niggers!"

well, before the profanity filter I could say "Fuck niggers" and have it just be starred.

Do I get muted now that certain people can see that? (They choose to see profanity.... right?)

 

I really hope now they don't ban people for cussing at other players, otherwise hello perm muted haha

 

Jagex has said that it needs to be genuinely offensive to other players
Example:
Dam this training spot sucks dick - is ok
Hey will you suck my dick? - is not ok

You get the idea

 

Highly doubt it, but if you were to like flame the person A LOT, then you'll probably be muted.
