I've seen alot of VPS related threads, it's best if we have a joint discussion in ONE thread to save up the clutter.

In this thread you can talk about VPS in general (which are good/bad etc...) OR you can ask for assistance from other members regarding your VPS. (Always be careful when doing so and do your own research!)

I'd say PhotonVPS is the best VPS provider. I've had the best experience with them.

 

How exactly do you use a VPS?

I believe all are paid, even if there is free ones there no good.


Your basically renting space from a super computer. Many members use that space to run bots, since good ones can run up to 8ish and usually running around 2 bots would make a normal users computer lag.

 

I was looking at Seerhost.com because apparently they say "The Leading VPS Provider for Runescape". Their plans say available on 2/22 and they haven't been updated yet.

I'm looking for one regardless :/.

Ive used gigatux. Really good vps got a $8 vps that cud run 5 bots no problem. Never went down

 

I recently purchased BEAM 3 from PhotonVPS.

I have learned that BEAM does not support Java that is why my bot randomly closes every so often. The customer support rep recommend I use their Xen packages which is a bit more expensive, but he says they support Java.

Is this correct?

Yes, Photon VPS is VERY good AND you can ONLY use the Xen package for RS botting.

If I am looking to run 4 Sorc Bots, which PhotonVPS package should I get?

Warp 2 - 1gig - 2gig RAM ($27)
Warp 3 - 2gig - 4gig RAM ($42)

I would of course prefer to get Warp 2, but I will get Warp 3 if Warp 2 can't handle 4 bots.

 

Why not use beam? What's the difference between warp and beam? Beam's cheaper

 

Yeah, this has been a rule for months but they only recently started enforcing it. My Xen servers are flawless now, though.

 

What is the biggest XEN vps from photonvps, how many sorc garden bots can it run smoothly, and what does it cost?

Get Beam 2 (OpenVZ) you can run 4 flawlessly.
