Account Buying, How to not get scammed?

Ok, I'm sorry if this is a very repative topic for hell, if this may save me $200 I feel like its worth being posted.

Basically I am looking to buy a high level main (135+) with some good stats that will probably cost in the ball park of $200.

My problem with this is that everyone who sells accounts like these (except a few) are leechers/new members who all joined this month basically.

My question is this. What is the chance that the account gets recovered and they steal all the items I xfer onto it? If I did this trade I would use an OMM with a recovery test, bear that in mind.

I want to be close to 100% sure that this account is mine forever so any tips are appriciated. Example what level (active mem/addict/guru/grandmaster w/e) and vouch # is significant enough to be deemed almost 100% trust worth?

Also, I was wondering, it says in the "rare name thread" that multispaced names (ex I I with like 7 spaces between) can be made again. I do not believe this is true as I have a multispaced name and people try to copy me but can't. Anyone know?

 

Honestly, you're better off botting up an account rather than buying it from somebody. Sythe is absolutely crawling with scammers, I wouldn't trust my money when buying an account with anyone here except a very high ranked member (I.E a mod, ex-mod, admin or ex-admin). Account sales are risky business, people might recover them a few months later and by that time they're already banned on sythe for scamming someone else so you have no way to punish them.

 

Yeah, I know a lot of them arent scammers but then like 3 months down the line they get tired on their "pure" after they got cleaned in the duel arena or something and don't have any "runescape wealth" left, and then recover the account...

If I get a recovery test done I can always recover it back though right? Is there anyway to reset details (zipcode, ect?)

 

Nope, if they still have the IP they created the account on, pretty much nothing can stop them recovering it, and there's currently no way to reset that. Plus, iirc they can hide the fact they were previously a member, and that in itself gives them a good hance at a successful recovery.

I'd strongly recommend NOT buying an account from Sythe (or really anywhere else for that matter).

 

There is always going to be a chance of the account being recovered, by the original owner.
There is basically nothing you can do about it.

Just buy off a trusted member, and pray they don't send in a recover appeal.




ps, you could always "slowly" bot an account up to your desired needs. It's what a few of my friends have done.

cracker, that would work except I want a lvl 135+ with 92+ herb, 90+ slayer, 80 (hopefully more)+ dung, maxed melee/range/mage, 95+ pray and like almost all quests done.

 

Then your best bet would to buy off a very trusted member, with a lot to lose if they get banned.

 

Even if you buy from a seemingly trusted member, always make sure that they are the original owner! If you buy an account and a previous owner recovers it (not the person who sold it to you) then the person you bought it from isn't accountable.

Nothing you can do will give you 100% safety. All you can do is take all the necessary precautions and hope for the best.

Account buying is like lottery, you have to take a risk. There is always a chance it will get recovered even if the user somewhat trusted. Although you could buy from a staff or someone well up there, and the possibility is not too high as they wouldnt risk there rep on here. Maybe im wrong
