Anyone taking them this year? How are you preparing for them?

I live in Canada and I'm in Grade 11, but I'm taking them just so I'm able to apply to Universities in the US. I purchased the official online course and the study guide, hopefully I'll do well.

    What about you guys?

I did well i guess, took it twice, did bad first time, second time: 1840. 10/12 on the written essay. You should take the ACT afterwards as well.

That's pretty good considering the average score is 1500 :). I'm not too keen on taking the ACT though, I think the SAT and two SAT II subject tests will be enough :p. Did you take any subject tests?

I'm taking the SAT in June, for the first time. I'm studying with a few books and taking a prep class. When do you plan on taking yours?

I did not prepare at all. The main thing is to just stay calm and keep working the entire time you are taking the test. Your score really does not even matter than much anyways, to be honest.

I took it and got a 1390/1600... No one really cares about their out of 2400 scores, really. Got a 9 on my essay, probably because I wrote about contemporary politics as my topic. I have a 3.6 GPA and got early acceptance to the University of Georgia. Which may seem shitty, but is actually becoming quite a difficult school to get into now. Anything above a 1300 is pretty good. Anything in the 1200's is average. 1100's, don't even bother. If you're lucky enough to get a 1400 or above, colleges will pretty much suck your dick.

I'm taking mine in June as well :).

Nice. I took a full length practice test and scored 2060/2400 a month ago, so with prep I'm hoping to get 2100+ when I actually take it. Personally I think SATs are more important than some think when getting into the "higher up" Universities. However they're most certainly not as important as extra-curriculars and GPA.

I took the ACT this fall and got a 30, I'm hoping to get a 2000+ on the SAT. I don't really study but my dad got the Princeton Review review book.

    SATs

I'm in Year 12 in the UK and I'm taking them early next year since I'm applying to Yale and a few other universities (colleges) around the US. Are they like...hard? I've heard they're piss easy from a lot of my mates.

Personally the only part I find somewhat difficult is Critical Reading. On practice tests I've gotten 750+ and 700+ on Math and Writing but can't seem to break 700 often on Critical Reading. Perhaps it's cause I never read haha.

They are piss easy to get around 2000 on, but if you want 2200+ it's recommended you study hard.

Haha, that's funny because I got a 800 on Critical Reading and only a 590 on math xD. I can tutor you in reading :p.

First off, I'd like to wish everybody who hasn't taken them but will take them good luck. The math part is a little tricky, mostly because they throw obscure problems your way. But the reading and writing is really easy. I scored a 1600 the first time through and I decided that would be enough to get into the schools I wanted and it was. The hardest thing about the test will be sitting through all of it.

Haha yeah I don't know why I find critical reading more difficult than the others. It's odd. Hopefully I'll iron a few kinks out when it nears the time to take the test :p.

rs nechryeal - 1600/2400, right? What were your individual scores? Also thanks for the good luck wishes.

I took the SAT once when i was 17, i scored a 1975 on it. My mom bought me like 3 different SAT prep books, none of which i used. if you are from the UK im sure you will destroy the SAT as most schools in the UK have a much harder curriculum than US schools.
in the long run it didnt really help me because i went to a community college for one semester and then transfered to a university. really that is the easiest way to get into a university, plus community colleges are a very cost effective way to get alot of credits knocked out before you decided on your major.

I live in Canada, so I'm not sure how our curriculum compares with the curriculums in the US. Hopefully it's not a substantial difference.

For SAT IIs I'm thinking of taking M2 and Physics.
