To all you newbs!

This is a bit of a rant thread because the hydro went out while I was sampling, and ended up frying my $3000 Casio. GF. how2payforschool+this? FML

Anyways, I'm just tired of people calling this generations music "not real music". I can guarantee to you as a composer/producer/engineer that today's music regardless of instrumentation is just as real as it ever was. It's somewhat disheartening to have the knowledge from years of practise and passion put into music, and then have someone who knows nothing about composition talk trash about todays music. :\ I know a lot of it is just musical preference/opinion but it's just so uneducated.

I know a lot of you wish to have grown up in the 60s/70s/80s/90s just to experience some of your favourite bands from those generations. But it's really just time to embrace the now and enjoy music for what it is and not who composes it, or because they sampled one of your favourite songs. It shouldn't be about the hate, but rather love that unites us all by our musical bonds.

For me, I get irritated by people bagging on:

-Justin Bieber. Yes, he is young. So what? If you listen to the structure in the music you can quickly see why he is so popular not only among young girls but actual music professors alike. He knows how to write a pop song, and I completely envy that.

-Kanye West/Rappers/MCee's. Samples sample samples. But it's more than that. Kanye has an EXTREMELY accute ear for finding melodys and rhythms within voices and he truly is a 1/1000000 producer. So do a lot of the producers of today, they can find a nice hook from a song in the 70s and REALLY bring it back to life.


How can you not feel exhilarated while listening to good high NRG electronica?

Anyways, my cigarrette is done and I'm somewhat still pissed about my Casio and all that. But just had to vent somehow :S

 

I just don't like the rappers/emcee's these days. Most of the popular ones are mediocre at best. For example..Kanye.
