Western Union for under 18?

I was talking to somebody through powerbot on Sythe, and he buys gold with WU. He told me he's only 15, and he can send a max cap of $999 through W/u at the grocery store. Is this true? I'm only 16, but I want to expand my payment methods and western union seems the best. Just looking for an answer on this one.

Yeah man, When I was like 14, I use to use Western Union, they don't give a shit. Although in their rules you need to be 16 or something, but anyways from my experience they do not care.

 

I am only 17, and havn't encountered any problems with WU in regards to sending / receiving money. I think it changes from country to country though. Usually, if you go into the store which accepts WU, you can ask for a flier which *should* have a WU toll free number, call them, and ask any questions you want .

 

I don't think you need to be 18 but you will need to have a valid ID, like state issued id, drivers license, or passport.

 

You can do it in your parents name & get them to withdraw the money for you.

 

Most WU don't care at all. They get money from sending money so they aren't going to turn it down.

 

Unfortunately over where I'm from they are particular about things. My GOVERNMENT ISSUED health card (with PHOTO ID) + birth certificate wasn't enough for me to receive my payment of $665.

 

The person I talked to lives in the same country as me, and I know you can't do it online. I'm not gonna ask my mom to do it, because she already thinks what I'm doing is illegal, lol. So all I have to do is just go in there and do it? Nothing hard about it?

 

You can send payments of up to 1,000 usd in the united states. You do not have to be a certain age to send the funds, as no verification is done. But in order to receive money, you need to prove your identity, and as stated per WU rules, this service is for people 18 and older. So you only have to be 18 to receive money.

 

Damn. I was seriously planning on accepting Wu payments. As long as I can send money, I don't really care.

 

I honestly think you could still get away with it. I received a WU payment once (under 18) and i just went to my local Grocery store, showed them my school ID and it was fine. I did have a state issued ID also, just in case.


Just go to a grocery store where you know they wouldn't care, the one i went to had a 19 year old working the counter with a 12 year old helping him. So i guess it was safe to predict they didn't give a shit.

I think it all depends which store your going to.
A few years back I went to a WU store and I couldn't send also because I wasn't 18, so I went to a different store and problem solved.

Yeah I went through the same problem here. You gotta have a passport or a drivers liscence.
