    Make a thread, get more post count so more people use it, buy/sell things to get vouches to gain trust in the community.

    Yes. Anyone can be a middleman. However you need to apply to be an official middleman.

    That being said, a person with no vouches and a recent join date won't get many people who want to use him.

    So if I start posting more and do lots of trades for good vouches, it'll improve my chances of succeeding?

    Yes it will, Very much so. I would wait to 10 vouches, then try some small trades for free.
