What is this Player ID crap??

Everytime I go to Castle Wars I see people talking about having low/high PiDs.

Is it better to have a high or low PiD? How do you know what your PiD is? Can you change it or are you assigned one that you keep forever?

Anyone have any idea, I'm so confused. =|

 

I only ever knew PID to be in classic when I played. PID was everything in classic for pking and staking etc. PID = first hit. PID = The catch in classic wild, PID = First to mine, thieve, etc.

In RS2 however, I have no idea.

 

this is the first ive heard of PiD in rs2.

 

Might be something to do with there tokens

 

If you have a lower Player ID you will have better priority in clicking dropped flags, etc. It's a click speed/priority sort of thing.

PID= 1-2000 in order of people joining server. Used to be sequential, to combat this (people purposely waiting for lower numbers) Jagex made it random. Lower PID makes your request get to the server first, or get read first.

Jagex talked about this in recent interviews.

 

Yes now in rs2 it's randomized.

 

Its all to do with clicking speed and how fast the game reacts.

Used for picking up flags etc.

I know how to increase PiD but why would I give that away eh ?

 

Basically it doesn't even matter. Even in staking it's such a miniscule amount that it doesn't even matter.

 

it doesnt really matter, its basically just how fast the game will react to your click. i mean some people talk about 1/512 being slow, who needs any better then that.....

I think its simply people trying to blame PiD for their lack of skill. Honestly, PiD is so insignificant you could be a better player by just practicing mouse precision.

 

Mouse click takes time to enter into computer. Wireless mouse takes longer than wired, Bluetooth takes longer than non bluetooth.

Mouse click takes time to register into the computer, depending on CPU, etc.

Program takes time to register mouse click, depending on how well it's written. I would bet that IE7 would take more time than the latest version of Chrome.

Click takes time to transmit out of computer. This depends on ping, and upstream speed of internet connection.

Click reaches server, and is processed in order. PID, server load, downstream internet connection (server side) comes into play here.

tl;dr - Lots of little factors come into play, minimising them all effectively can positively change your game experience.

 

PID seems more useful in drop parties and the like than it is in Castle Wars.

 

In rsc, when 2 players with same stats staked the one with lower pid won allways. Also in rsc you could see the other players pid.

 

Ive played since 04 and never known this. I thought the servers worked with ping like all other online games
