Alching claws would mean a less claw in runescape which means prices would rise(not very much at all like a 0.000001% increase) thats my understanding on how you would add money to the game.

If one gets any item as a drop, no money is added, but rather the balance between the two is evened out further. If you directly get money from something (e.g alching, picking up coin drops, quest rewards, etc) then you can say that money is being added.

    Tl;dr: Your friend's an idiot.

MY arguement is that the claws, when dropped are adding monetary value into the market, not pure gold. This is like saying a Phat is only worth it alch value.

    D Claw drop: +25m
Trade between the 2 players: 25m for D Claws
MONEY IS ADDED TO THE GAME! The D claws are instantly worth 25m when they are dropped. Trading them for another item does not take away any money from the system due to the fact that the money is being transfered, not taken away.

How is money added to the game.

    beckman, claw drop doesn't = +25m

Player A gets claws, sells to player b
Player A is.... + claws (because of drop) +25m (because selling to b) - claws (because of selling to b)
    Player B is... + claws (buying from A) - 25m (buying claws from A)

add all that up, the +25m - 25m cancels, the +claws - claws cancels, your left with + claws.

Let me to try to put this in simpler terms.

    Player A: Gets Dragon Claws.
Player B: Offers 25M for the Claws.
Player A and B: Both agree and get the trade done with.
Player A: Happily enjoys his 25M.
Player B: Enjoys rushing with his Claws.

As Beck has pointed out, money is only transferred, not taken away. The total monetary value is 25M + Dragon Claws = 50M, but however, we should take note that Dragon Claws does not count as 'actual cash' so therefore, no money is added.

I hope I've made that clear.

How is money added to the game.

I think money is added, it may not be directly added through the d-claws but somehow the d-claws will add money into the system. For example, if someone were to want to buy the d-claws they would need to find a different way of adding money to the system, ex:woodcutting, minigames, theiving, etc. So if you say that the d-claw drop is not adding money to the system you're saying that any action that you take in the market place(such as selling your herbs, seeds, logs or w/e) also does not add money. Maybe it's possible to have the money keep circulating through the system, but that means that people who destroy money by eating pumpkins or dropping phats in the middle of nowhere would eventually cause hyperinflation; thus, the value of money skyrockets. Since the value of money is dependent on either the value of items you can buy or the real world money you get from it, it's kinda hard to make an argument either way. Does the d-claw drop affect the runescape monetary system either directly or indirectly? I'd argue yes. but does it add currency? That's hard to tell. you'd have to know where the money buying the claws is coming from. Is it recycled from merchants or is it produced by thieving npcs'? Either way I think it's too broad of a question to answer simply because although the g.e. is similar to the real life stockmarket it's also waaay different, even if you don't use the g.e. the runescape economy is regulated by jagex(which you can argue that America regulates what their farmers produce, and prices of goods to prevent or enact inflation.) but unlike the way we regulate goods in America, Jagex directly changes the prices of goods(right? this is what I've heard. not sure if it's true) without taking the goods out of circulation. so yea, I don't know if you'll understand this, I myself am unsure if I do. I hope it helps but if not sorry, only trying to help.

I don't think that money from coinshare because...

Basically you sell it to the GE (say Dclaws for 25m) which sell its to another player for 25m and keeps the 25m.

    Coinshare doesn't add money

Its never added to the game. On a side note, did you know construction was added because there was too much gold in the game at the time?

How is money added to the game.

There are 3 obvious ways to add money to this game.

Hi Alching: Items get turned into coins.
Looting : Monsters drop their life savings.
Selling : Selling items to general store.

How is money added to the game.

It used to be added with pvp when it dropped statues/coins.

It's added now when people lose quest items and coins are dropped in their place, and via alching/etc that creates pure gold.
