Jagex Email - Fake?

I've seen those and they are but that just links me to the runescape homepage??

 

I got it on an email that I never registered a rs account with before. LOL

Yes, it's fake.

Just like the same email going around that states your account has been stolen.

Jagex won't email you about things like that. They will simply ban you and wait for you to notice it?

 

Okay, so I did change my password. Should I be okay then? My computer didn't pickup any viruses or anything when I clicked on it, and I started a scan and it hasn't picked up anything either.

Am I okay, you figure?

 

What happened when you clicked the link? Did it try to load a Java applet?
Also yes it's fake they message you via your inbox on Runescape for bans/mutes etc.

 

Yeah, I have no idea how I fell for that.. At least somehow I subconsiously went and changed my password, like right after. Haha..

 

It just went to what seemed like the Runescape website itself. Nothing seemed to happen, no viruses or anything, nothing detected by my virus scanner. :S

 

100% fake. What you can do, is in the email, right-click the link, click on "Copy Shortcut" paste that into word / notepad etc, and it will show you the link you were about to click on. It is fake, and it is a phising website.

Also, read the email fully. They made spelling mistakes, something Jagex wouldn't do.

Edit: Download a program called "Avast" can be found on google, run that and it should own anything that the java driveby put onto your computer.

 

Seeing as I already had clicked on it, and entered my information.. (Though I did change it, so I think I'm okay.)

Anything else I should do? Or you figure I'm alright? I don't know why I fell for it. In all my years of playing RS I've never done anything like that. But yeah, didn't seem to cause a virus or keylogger, or so I don't think..? My virus scanner would've picked that up I assume. Just scanned my whole computer and it says it's all fine.

 

I just got one except it said I was banned for major macro. I kind of believed it because I had been suiciding in sorc garden for the past week. So I checked and my bot was still running :laugh:

Also a few days prior to today I received one telling me I had been promoted to a player mod.

 

Just a typical phishing email, check the actual sender often it will say on behalf of so and so. And make sure you check where the url leads before you ever click it.

And yeah, jagex don't email over bans, player mod promotions or anything. Check your rs inbox, it's the only way they will contact you over such a thing.

Please guys, be really careful with sites that prompt you to run a java applet. These can be really dangerous.

i got one also cept mine was about macroing, almost fell for it then checked all my accs and realised they arent registered to my msn email (due to kids on sythe who think they will win at fooling me) hate them because there phisers look so legit >.<

 

So, can anyone confirm that to be a phishing site? I mean, I swear it was just the regular Runescape website. If I got keylogged, wouldn't my computer scan have picked up on it? Nothing seemed to have happened, and Java never prompt me or anything..
