    Staking (Boxing, whatever the f!)

Can someone explain me how the fcuk this works?

Going by from what I can gather, you enter a staking match, and you both throw yourself at Jagex' mercy to get as much good hits as possible, and get hit for as few as possible.

Now, as all of you know, the hit calculation happens at random, as in: You swing a weapon (Cast a spell, do whatever you want) and then the game decides how much you hit based on several variables, those ones being defence, strength, attack, and so on. However the most important variable is the random hit generator. It ultimately decides wether or not you'll hit and for how much.

As most of you are aware, there is such as thing called mathemathics (but then spelled correctly), and going from that:

If you face a player of equal qualities, all the stats even eachother out, as everyone is abiding by the same mechanics and rules. Thus the only variable that doesn't get canceled out is the random hit generator, and ultimately decides who will win.

Now you can not argue with it. This isn't religion, this isn't some biased subjective theory, this is plain logic.

So if we go by this logic, how the hell is there such a thing as "good staker"? I mean, don't get me wrong: I know alot of you are 13 year old kids who like nothing more to find the next best thing to praise and worship, but does anyone ever stop at the fact that there is no such thing as being good at staking?

As a matter of fact, the only thing I can find being slightly related to "skill" (player skill) is finding your target in the clusterfcuk of names popping up the second you right click the ball of people duking it out. But that isn't in the least bit related to staking, rather to point precision clicking which comes closer to playing a shooter than anything else.

So what am I missing here? It just seems to unlikely to me that all these players get worshipped for their lucky hits they get, so there must be something more.

A good staker knows when to hit with certain attack styles and knows how to get the first hit. A good staker has perfected stats allowing them to have the chance of winning more often. And a good staker would know how much to stake against their opponent. It's not completely luck you do have some control.

I dont believe attack styles have a big impact on your accuracy. It's all based on luck like he says. If it is can someone explain how this works?

    nice thread

Other than having the right stats, there really isn't much you can do to change the out come of the fight. RNG is going to be RNG.

Well, whenever I stake I almost always know if its going to be close or if I'm going to win for sure, but I don't box. Boxing seems random to me, and I'm not sure how skill is involved with it...

atm I'm up half a bil from staking.

I know where you're going with this. I agree. For example, I box at max melee. It's all luck. I just do things which make me feel as if I have luck, I got 40M from it today.

Good stakers know when to stop, and when to keep staking. They don't let greed overcome their winnings.

It's when you're a lower than max level where skill can play a part. I'll leave it at that :)

    ^This.

Generally, you almost always have different levels than your opponent, so you do have a slight control, and therefore cannot just say it is the generator. The "some control" is probably in the 5-10% range - it's mostly luck.

But I think that's the fun part, people play poker even though it's mostly luck. You may argue that it takes skill, and to a certain extent it does, but it still comes down to how "lucky" you are and how lucky your opponent is. Same thing with the generator, putting down 5M knowing that you might not win adds to the excitement, and ultimately makes it more rewarding when you do win :D

... Hey, this is something bots actually can't one-up on us, eh? :D

You say it takes no skill, yet people have started with 100m and are now at 5b+ from boxing (legit) on maxed accounts. Obviously they are doing something right.

^ Some/Most have also lost that original 100M, and some are too greedy and end up loosing much of their winnings as well.

I still feel it is mostly luck, it's easy for the success stories to get more attention than some kid loosing his bank (unless it's a 2B bank, that might be pretty cool :p)
