    Paypal Claim. Please Help!

Hey I just sold 144m gold for $150 and the buyer has now held it against me. I forgot to screenshot the conversation and transaction so I don't know what to do. Please, any advice you can give would greatly help.

    Paypal Claim. Please Help!

I told him to send as either a gift or payment owned. I didn't know how to check whether it was sent as that and everything looked fine... He even included the message "cannot be refunded". He made a claim that he didn't authorise the payment and it is now held from me. Help please!

    Paypal Claim. Please Help!

Nah I didn't. Would it be possible to call them up and ask them to check the IP address the payment was sent from compared to the IP address the account usually logs in from? Surely even if he claimed it was a family member or friend, he would still be held responsible for using his paypal account on his IP address. Also, if he didn't authorise the payment supposedly then anyone with common sense would change their paypal pass right? Also, he cannot prove that he "didn't make the payment". So he has as much evidence against me as I do for him. I can also show that I edited my RSGP selling thread right after he made the payment to show "out of stock". Surely that may be able to help just a little. Scammed out of 144m gold isn't a hell of a lot for me, but $150 irl is a shit load of money to me so I'll be pretty pissed if I can't work this out. He had this message in his payment too: "Payment for the virtual items I have recieved, I'm very happy with them and there for have no reason to chargeback. I also confirm that I am the owner of this paypal account. I also confirm that if these paypal funds are stolen funds or dodgy funds, I confirm that I will be held responsible if they". Surely that would be enough evidence. And shit I just checked and someone scammed me $80 for an easter egg. They sent the payment. All looked good and now the status says "reserved". I don't understand paypal or how it works. I checked and everything seemed in order for the payment. Also for the guy that scammed me for $80 I have a hell of alot of proof, MSN screenshots, payment window and everything so would that mean I can get my $80 back? Also would the message that first scammer gave me be enough proof to get my money back? Scammed out of $230 is not joke. Why would anyone do it? Do they not realize how this makes people feel or they could be struggling financially because of this? God dammit... More advice please!

Tell paypal you sold virtual goods, any evidence you have of this will greatly help. But even without you should win.
Buyers of virtual goods are not protected by paypals refund policy.

Thanks guys. I called them this morning and the guy was sort of nice and said they are investigating and will contact me back in 24-48 hours. I hope for the best and tell everyone how it goes. The guy that reversed charged $80 got his paypal account locked so I don't know how that will go.

Wow, I got the same problem today. And the same as you - no pictures of giving the cash etc.
But mines for 215$ and it was sent from Mobile PayPal - would it change anything?
Will be calling PayPal soon also.

Exact same situation here, except I sold 500M for $500. I sent in my dispute, but just like you, I didn't save anything as the guy seemed legit and he sent $500 first at once (shoulda been a huge indicator something was up). I'm going to have to call paypal soon. But since I get off school at 3PM Pacific Time I might have to wait till the weekend, assuming they work during the weekend.

Whatever the case, in the odd chance that I trade on sythe again I'm going to video tape everything with camtasia or something and save it.

PS. Tell us how it ends up OP

Still haven't been contacted back. After this gets sorted out, I'm going to research the topic and write a guide on how to protect yourself when doing large trades as I feel nobody should have to go through this. Sorry to the people in the same situation as me. Your best bet is to call them, show them as much evidence as you possibly can and hope for the best.

Well you check whether it was sent as Gift or not, go to "Details" of the transaction and check to see if there was any Fees applied. If "Fee" is at "$0.00" then it was sent as gift.

As for the claim... I am not sure and cannot help you out here but if they check to see the IP Address, that'll be enough proof that it was not an unauthorized user.

there are often fee's on gifts aswell now.

A better way to check is click on details and then click issue refund. If there is something along the lines of 'partial refunds cannot be given' it should be gifted.

Thanks guys. Lets just hope it wasn't a stolen paypal account. As for the $80 sale which I have 100% proof of transaction which has been "reversed", what should I do? Also thanks Tiemen, I knew that gifts sometimes give fees but didn't know you could check if it was a gift that way.

Also I'm not really worried what happens. I only lost about a quarter or a third of what I started with. I'm quitting runescape anyway as I have university and runescape just doesn't interest me much more, however I still hope to do trades on Sythe and continue on as a member here.
