Question - Never understood -

Hey so I never understood how the scam on RS works where the people are like giving 28 free sharks, but you have to show inventory first.

How does that work?

Just curious.

 

Well they tell you to put everything on the trade screen hoping that you'll press the accept button and forget that you put your inventory on the trade screen.

 

Pretty much that, I still don't get how people fall for it, though, lol

 

Dam thats it?

Who would fall for that?

 

Someone who is in a rush and wants those sharks or someone whos head isn't right

In theory no one would.

In practice however its so easy to fall for it. Our brains are triggered to respond to the words FREE, SALE, HALF PRICE.

They put up 28 free "dragon bones" for example, you put up six items, they take off 6 dragon bones and accept, like mentioned earlier the mind doesn't go that much into depth as soon as its heard the word 'FREE'.

 

All a case of Social Eegineering, manipulate someones mind into thinking that you are doing them a favour, you are giving them something for.. Keyword "Free." Causing some people to let their guard down and trust you.

Then it's just hoping that the person isn't sharp enough to notice that they have left all their items still in the trading screen.

haha I tricked someone once into a full inv of rune platelegs when he was trying to scam me. Idk if he was a moron or what

 

surprisingly lots of people do fall for that

 

you must be dumb to fall into that

 

Wow.. so that's what this 'scam' is about.

Pretty stupid IMO.
