I'm sure most of you are aware of the bullshit that happened to Firez. I was thinking of an idea to get rid of this problem all together is to maybe have an admin or mod or some trusted dude from sythe go to www.westernunion.com and get the gold card. This allows for instant transactions via the internet I think up to $1000.00 per day. It would be a more secure way to donate to the site. Maybe Sythe could just pay fees on donations or something?

Thoughts?

Downside only US and Canadian users could donate. It would be a temporary fix for atleast some people.

Liberty Reserve might be an idea. I dont know help me brainstorm guys because I really would like to donate. I have been scammed over $2000.00 when I started selling here, have gained a ton of knowledge and have made in the upwards of $10,000.00 I want to be able to in some way show my thanks to the staff team on this site and the decent and legit members of the community. Even the scammers for teaching me what not to do lol.

Maybe even somehow set Player Auctions up for it? Is that possible?

There are so many more secure payment methods than PayPal, and it would be a shame for the donations to just be gone.

 

Negative. I am a gold card member. It still charges fees etc and you still have to have the sender sign up, and still need to pick up the payment. Not gonna happen.

 

I thought the gold card put it on your debit card? Gonna send you 10 bucks via WU just to test it mine goes straight to my card.

Edit: I'm waiting for my verification pin in the mail to send money I can only receive atm. When I get it I'll show you how to do it.

I'm like 99% positive you only have the rewards card if you cant accept money online.

 

The way it's setup now is fine for donations.

 

Donations right now are only RSGP. Not everyone that uses this site uses it for Runescape.

 

I need to look into Western Union more, heard its a lot safer than Paypal...

I think Liberty Reserve or Alertpay would be a good idea. In Alertpay you can block cc payments and from unverified users, so you will have to deal with less disputes, if any and Liberty Reserve there is no chargebacks. Also I always wondered why is the reason we don't have a PayPal donate button? Can't user just be banned if he files a dispute or something?

Banning isn't the problem. Others filing disputes then having your paypal limited with no chance to appeal and not being able to get your money back for 180 days is the issue. They have a money order/mail and WU options atm which I think will be perfectly fine.

 

Ah got it, problem with wu is that fees are pretty high, I think Liberty Reserve and AlertPay should be looked into.

Also just found this in the terms of service for gold card:
7. Receiving Additional Money Transfers to your Card.
If you have completed the identification process to load and reload your Card, you may also accept money transfers to your Card ("Money Transfer Load"). The sender may send a maximum Money Transfer Load amount of $950 per transaction. Once the sender has completed either a Western Union® Money in Minutes or Next Day transaction, you may call toll-free 1-866-953-6436, provide the MTCN and have the Money Transfer Load amount transferred to your Card.

 

It seems like more work than it's worth. I think everyone should just stick to cash. there's really no reason you shouldn't be able to mail cash..

 

It's not any work at all, and it was already done.

 

I signed up for the gold card as well.
It says it'll go to the debit card instead of having to pick it up in person.

And the limit is like 995$ a day.

 

Atm you can always buy gp via paypal give to nate for a donation rank and its just as easy and mostly safe for nate to do unless jagex removes his gp from him.
