Shutter island..

watched it the other night with my gf,

and yeah, its sick.

 

He doesn't die but his emotions are numbed or something like that, he basically becomes a human robot but yes this is correct. Every else I know that saw it was mind fucked but I cant comprehend how you could be.

I just watched the movie with a couple of friends.


Basically what happened was his psychiatrist(the guy that you believe to be his partner throughout most of the movie) basically decided to try and role play his delusion that he's a US marshal in order to try and permanently stop it. This role playing works shortly, causing him to realize the truth about himself (that he's a killer). Because of this in the end he fakes acting as Teddy Daniels (the US marshal) in order to make the people believe that the role-playing has failed. He does this because he would rather be lobotomized then to live on forever knowing what he had actually done.

Hope this helps you realize a little more on what was going on. It was indeed a fairly confusing movie.

Such a great film. Did remind me of A Beautiful Mind, which we watched in my psychology class.

 

I loved that movie, the twist at the end was crazy.
