Runescape Freebies/Junk section?

Just a thought.

Maybe sythe should add a freebies/junk section where people can give away their junk that they don't use or are just too lazy to sell. Instead of having posts where people would ask for free stuff it would only be if you are giving it away you could post. I dunno. I just think there should be something like that here.

This will just encourage begging in other parts of the forum, and the majority of "free accts" are recovered back anyways.

How would it encourage begging? You are not allowed to beg on sythe. This section would simply be for those who are giving away things. NOT FOR THOSE ASKING FOR FREE STUFF!

Big deal? You got the acc for free so...yeah. It would not encourage begging because the rules clearly state that it is against them to do that. The freebies section would be for people to give away not ask for stuff

 

I support, I think that if people did have useless accounts it would be good just to get rid of them so people who need them can have them. It would also discourage begging because that would be where everything free would go: nothing else could be gained from begging if it was just given away free.

I don't think he is. I support this, maybe even to just see how it goes. I can't imagine it getting very big either. The majority would probably be junk, in which case only people needing it would keep it. If someone randomly gave away a pretty good account then it wouldn't matter if it got recovered; someone could play on it a bit and then lose it, big deal it was free. There oculd be warnings or somehing about the potential of recovery, ie don't make it members etc.

It will discourage begging as that will be where to get to get all of the free stuff on Sythe; you can't beg if everything's given anyway.

The point is, you get the account, and months later it gets recovered back after you put your time and effort in to the account. Problem.

 

IF the rule is no-one is allowed to ASK for stuff just make threads giving stuff away.

And also no giving accounts away because they can just be recovered.

No support. I feel like if anyone want to give anything worth anything away they go to Runescape General. It seems like more energy to post on here to give away worthless shit than to just drop it.

 

You make a very valid point. I like the breakdown and this will definitely discourage begging. There would have to be guidelines as to what you are getting into when you take a free acc. Like memberships and other purchases for the acc. The acc should have no recoveries and the owner should give all the details. That is all for now.

That would be disallowed; the whole point of the section would only be to either post a free something and thank someone for giving one, not to ask.

1) People won't dump great accounts that you would want to play on a lot (I guess)
2) You would know that is always a risk in getting a free account and would therefore not put as much effort in.

 

Exactly. As I said before. There would be recommendations like providing all of the account details if you want to be secure. Otherwise it's for free so you are taking the account with your own risk.

As for other stuff like getting rid of junk items or unused gold that would be a plus for this section. Anything like that would be awesome because people could post giving away free items or gold.

Great accounts would be given with no GP only to be recovered easily later with GP. It's a common scam that is used to exploit people jumping at the chance of a "free account". You know as well as I do that we have a lot of younger users on here who wouldn't even consider the 'risks' of a free account if offered.

tbh i'd rather sell my accounts for $5 - 10 then give them away.
