    Western Union vs PayPal

    I personally haven't used Western Union, but I have used PayPal before, and although I haven't had any problems with them yet, I'm scared that problems may occur in the future.

    Such problems include chargebacks. I want to start selling off my gold, but I'm not sure if it's 100% safe from any chargebacks, even if the payment is bank-funded and sent as a gift with the virtual goods message.

    Does Western Union have this 'chargeback' feature, and are they safe to use as a virtual goods seller? Any problems with them at all?

    Thanks.

    PayPal is the most common way of paying people online as it's used with eBay.

    To ensure no chargebacks occur, use an MM, ask them to send as a gift, with a note saying something like "I am paying for a virtual item which I received, and will not chargeback."

    Also the reason people don't like WU is, in most cases the fee will be $10-20 which is outrageous if you put a OMM fee ontop of that.

    Even bank funded gifts sent to you with that message can be charge backed apparently.

    Im writing a guide on WU this weekend. Basically WU is just no chance of the payment being scammed back.

    Less of a chance though, if someone has taken the time to verify their account. Also, trade with higher repped members. I've been selling off my gold the past few days and haven't experienced a single chargeback.

    To be honest if they charge back, you can call up Paypal, tell them that you're willing to press charges because you were scammed. From there on the person will receive a call from them and get in some trouble and being forced to give it to you. Or if it was a 13 year old, he'll be getting grounded when his parents answer the phone ( ;

    With Western Union you physically have to go to a western union store or point and take out the actual cash, thus being no chance of a chargeback...

    Easily the safest option, but most tedious I guess.

    Every Auspost store does Western Union I believe, you can send money all over the world, any currency just about.
