Email I just got..

Just received this email and when I get a email from jagex its always to verify a email or to recover account so I never really read it properly. He made a few mistakes but still it looks legit and because he has obviously traded with me before he knew my email and knew I had been real world trading. So I kind of paniced and clicked the link, I then realised it was fake so I thought I'd show everyone else to watch out for this email.

 

Lol people will try anything.. sad.

Is the email a @jagex or whatever the legit emails come from?

If not post his email so we can see it, maybe someone can reference it and get the kid banned here.

his name on whatever email provider uses is [email protected], if you click reply you should see something like [email protected] ([email protected])

 

Well golly gee, these "phishers" and "hackers" are popping up like crazy now, stay on ya' feet!

 

It must be one of those people that can spoof emails with those weird German hacking websites.

 

i remember being scammed for over 200$ by someone using MSN of Vic (previous Sythe admin/mod), email showed it was him (when actually it wasn't), and I was too excited about buying gold so cheap, so I didn't even ask him to PM me.

 

Na, when I click reply it says Jagex Ltd ([email protected]) :S:S

 

If you send an email through certain services you can send it via your actual email address but disguise it as whatever you want. It is usually used for business but nearly every scammer/phisher uses it now. I think in gmail there is a way to see the true email but I am not sure about any other providers.

 

Ah, well guys if you get an email similar to this hover over the link and check if it will take you to runescape.com.

theres a program that lets you spoof email adreses like that, i think its called ghost somthing.

 

That is kinda scary... I'm worried how advanced these people will be in a year or two.

 

can clearly see the "Dot" in the crossed out email address indicating it says "@hotmail" hahaha

 

Whats your point, I blocked out MY email so another kid doesn't try sending me these emails..

 

why would they send an automated email at 33 minutes past midnight?
