    You're lucky you got out of it. Giving them a different laptop would have looked extremely shady if the judge found out about it.

    Every buisnes interaction you do, always keep documentation to cover your ass in situations like this. but then again, you wont really lose either, possestion is 9/10th of the law.

    Definitely get a lawyer, your probably gonna have to pay some money seeing as the kids young and the jury will find him innocent, but trust me that kid has his own laptop he is NOT innocent.

    Get proof you bought the screen and keep the old one if you still have it.

    And when this is all over, do something that'll make him regret being a little prick. But be anonymous about it or you'll get screwed over.

    P.S. If you can organize a meeting with his parents, they'll still be pissed but you can try to work a deal and pay them 300 bucks.

    I wouldn't be too worried, unless you're leaving some information out. You mishandled the situation, you shouldn't have sold the laptop and instead immediatly contacted authorities.
