Player Mod Process and other info?

I was wondering what the player mod process is exactly, also what I could do to make myself stand out for a pm position, or who contacts you. I've wanted to be a player mod for years, so I figure i'll finally pursue it.

I also received a private message today whilst buying and selling stuff in the G.E from 'Rs Applicant' whom told me he'd (or she'd) be in contact because they are interested in me as a player mod and I told them only to contact me via Runescape website or a Jagex-owned website with verifications, which they agreed to. I'm excited but somewhat skeptical, if i'm talking to the right person, what's the process? and if i'm not I'd like the three questions to be answered.

 

That person is a scammer.

Actual process is you get a message to your inbox, then you agree, fill in your personal information etc and then get a shiny silver crown that gets you flamed whenever you say something ingame

 

It's not a legit offer.

Jagex will only offer you a position through In-Game mail on their website account center. Your being phished



Sucking up to a P-Mod might help, but i seriously doubt their reccomendations are reviewed all that much, however I've seen P-Mods on here sell reccomendations before, so it may help.

Being an RS oldfag helps with being a P-Mod
Having proper grammar and spelling, IE: no U or UR ( Isn't always neccesary )
Most P-Mods are high level players, I've seen maybe 2 under level 90. One of which was a level 3 skiller with plenty of 99's to boast.

There are some people who believe if you are a really honest player and report a lot of people you will be offered mod status. There are also people who say current mod's are responsible for recommending other players for player mod status. If you ask me though, the entire process is random. I know lots of horrible people with dishonest accounts that have become mods, and I also know people who are the most honest, helpful, and have even been recommended by current mods and haven't been offered P-Mod status.

There's really no way to "game" the system though, so if you have your heart set on becoming a P-Mod you might find yourself disappointed. I used to want to be a P-Mod, but no longer have that desire mostly because there are so many now days and it's not as respectable of a position as it used to be.

 

Yeah, that's true, I try and help all my friends out, make new friends and prevent scamming. I've been playing since '03 and still have my original account which has never had a single blackmark. If one of my friends says they just got cleared 20M or something, I'll gladly throw 500k-1M their way, it's only about a dollar out of my pocket, you know? But ah well, what can you do other than dream?

 

Try to lurk around Lumby, offering help to new players, help out on the forums. You know, little things you should be doing anyways that many people are too rude to do.

 

Oh and make sure you don't bot on your IP, and your IP has no history of accounts being banned and offences, etc.

 

With all this stuff about offences. Surely the ones that have been removed don't count?

 

I would assume so, I do know a pmod that has some offences on his account, mostly mutes and such for offensive language.

 

My offences are those from about 5 years ago, and one impersonating a P-Mod.
So maybe they get some hints ;D
