Scammers

Aight Hi everyone.

So as usual, i'm looking around the forums and I passed by the scammers archives to notice an unbelievable amount of successful scam reports.

To me this shows that there are way to many scams are going on, and it's not like were you could possibly recover your account in some situations, users are loosing lots of GP which is worth a good sum of cash to them.

I know that there are MM and OMM's but some people don't like to pay fees or some MM are not trusted and to that, many take advantage of those situations and scam. Aswell, I've seen multiple "trusted" users taking advantage of newer users and usually scam them.

All im really asking for is that a new system, new rules or something that allows buyers and sellers to be safe from scammers. Anything really right now would be beneficial to everyone.

The rules are in place are excellent, everything on this site is geared towards preventing scamming. When people get scammed its from there own stupidity if you follow the guidelines on this site you will not get scammed. Also there are many trusted MM/OMM's which will not scam and if you push for one in the trade there will be no worry of a scam.

Scammers will always be around and changing things on this site won't change that, just trade smart and you won't have to worry.

 

Just buy from trusted user/use MM or OMM no way around it...

 

The system you describe is an idealistic impossibility. Just be careful with your trades, use an OMM, and take all necessary precautions.

 

lol-- I'm just speaking on what I see. Not on my own behalf and I never got scammed.

But the archives don't lie, there are to many scammers.

 

Just be carefull, no one gets scammed unless they make a mistake.

 

Its a lot of the same people who come back and take advantage of our newer users as well.

 

I've had multiple trades where I used a middleman, everything went fine, then the guy recoveries the accounts in a week.

I reported him and I got infracted... Like are you freaking kidding me?

I'm sorry I don't have proof of him recovering the account. What proof can I possibly have? I showed a picture of my recovery attempt to a mod and the e-mail saying it failed and this resulted in me getting infracted.

That is not right at all.

Edit: Btw, I'm not a retard, the trade was perfectly legitimate. I changed the recoves, e-mail, password 3 times, and did everything humanly possible to secure the account. The fact is people can recover accounts without all of the above.

 

^This. Out of my 50+ trades, I've gotten scammed once, and that was because I didn't take the necessary precautions. Furthermore, to add on to plznate's suggestions, I would:

1. Use an OMM/trusted MM
2. Always request a PM to prevent impostors!
3. Check join date, post count, and vouches (make sure they are legit and not just 50 $3 rs upgrades)
4. Check for any scammer reports against the person you are doing business with
5. Check to see if they have ban evaded
6. Check to see if they are interested in or use keyloggers/RATs/other malware by searching their email on google and seeing if they have an account on HackForums or other websites that support hacking

 

Copied notes down for reference . But yes I was scammed yesterday, and its very easy to realize the multiple mistakes I made, biggest which was not using an OMM. Many people may expect you to "trust" them, but in the end, its always better to have a foolproof method, which can be easily followed if you do a bit of research on this site.

 

Yeh i was scammed out of 473M in RS yesterday. First transaction through the forum, aside from a guide I bought. Didn't do my due diligence. Live and you learn lol

It is just bothering me that the same guy has scammed other people but he hasn't been banned yet be cause we lack proof. 10 people claiming he scammed with some proof seems like enough proof to me lol

And best of all he is selling my gold on here now. Talk about slap in the face lol

 

Too make sure it's secure, Always Ask for a PM, And Always use a OMM/ Trusted MM.

But most times when ppl want to use omm they bring imposter or guy who has many vouches and who just dont care about account being blocked..And every time i tried to find good omm i couldnt cause they are offline or not responding..

 

I disagree, Black Markets are usually broken into two categories. Gold exchange and accounts exchange. With accounts sales its impossible to have scam free exchanges. However, with the gold exchange IT IS possible to have scam free transactions.

I admined a community a few years ago (before the update) where we had Official Middle Men who charged fees. However, I provided the service free of charge because I wanted my community to grow. This cancels out having to use unofficial middle men who are "Trusted"

The problem is sythe is a forum, theres only a very small amount of community left in it. My forum ran great because people werent forced into trading with someone because they have a high post count or vouches...

The rules and the idea of an OMM is really the best you can do with these kinds of Runescape trades. It is just too easy to recover your account just based on if you have the IP that the account was made on.

 

Do not buy accounts as those are scam-able even with a MM. Stick with buying gp/powerleveling services.

 

I have also been scammed twice since being on here, and reported them both with alot of evidence. But the Moderators do not ban people for scamming unless its like a unrealistic crazy amount of evidence, like they have to be reported by like 6 people. It sucks cause i am working over here in iraq and it sucks to give my money away.

 

I'm confused, is this thread about you suggesting that somebody make a suggestion?
