Common Sense Bypass?

I keep seeing moderators closing people's threads and telling them they're in the wrong section... why not just move the thread?

 

I've felt the same about this for a long time, as it's pointless otherwise.

Such like if people are banned on the website and need to post a scammer report, they'd most likely use the dispute forum and a Global/Admin would move it to the appropriate section.

Honestly, not that difficult, and it only shows that you're doing your job as a Sectional.. or whatever you are.. properly.

^Both examples of when threads could have just been moved. Not trying to pick on FireZ or anything, I've seen other mods do it too.

 

Fixed those 2 threads, it does happen but just never realized it much until you said something.

 

Sometimes it just happens. Probably just felt easier posting and clicking the lock option rather than moving it, feeling as if the OP would find the appropriate section, or PM you requesting it to be moved lateron.

However, in some instances, people will post threads without ever looking at them again, or already know they're posting in the wrong section, but feel that they'll get the quickest/best response by posting in a particular section.

Guess it goes either way, but I think FireZ to be one of our greatest current Globals. Very intuitive, and more-over fair judgment in most cases.

 

I move all threads unless its a sales thread in the wrong section, because they need to learn rather than depend on a mod to move it.

 

Move it and infract them. Send them a PM in the infraction that tells them what they have done wrong and that you have moved it for them.

 

Wouldn't it give for more of a "lesson" if people have their threads locked when they post it in the right section? Shouldn't there be some kind of punishment for doing that? Or else people will just post where-ever they like, since mods will move it anyway?

 

Sorry to go off topic a bit but I've seen people posting their accounts in pures and other accounts section with identical threads is this punishable??

Also I've seen people just make a new thread to sell their account right when their other thread goes off first page is this punishable??

 

Report them for multiple threads.

 

I agree, someone keeps doing this in the market and I typically will just undo their work and move it.

 

For newer members I'll usually post and lock it so they actually know where to put their thread, if I were to move them they probably couldn't find them. Redirects solve that problem, but people always bitch about them

 

I agree. We have the ability to move for a reason.

 

I move them in every section unless they are in the Account sales and half of the people don't ever read the stickies.

 

That's why the report abuse button is available under every post. Hit it, and inform them to move the thread.
