To anyone hoarding rares thinking that they're going to make hundred of mills in profit, think again. Rares are going to continually decline back to post GE status, where they should be. Santas around 20M like usual, Masks around 40M or so. With the huge flock of old players coming back, most likely a lot of them with tons of rares from when staking was around, rares will drop. 90% of rare exchanges will now be through staking once the new update hits, while the other 10% is from trading, etc.

I honestly have no idea why anyone would think it's smart to stock up on tons of partyhats, it may seem smart, but with no trade limit, there can't be a total control of the prices, and knowing how 99% of the population can't afford the outrageous prices of a partyhat, 500M+ when a purple used to be 70M, people will go low to get rid of them. You usually NEVER get full cash for any rare, and if you do its the same small group of merchants buying/selling the same rares, which provides a false representation that they sell/buy easily.

I had a few santas, and a yellow hat myself back in the day, and I'll tell you it was a bitch getting rid of that yellow. You either sell it for IRL cash, or GL getting anything good for it in-game. But yeah, if you guys don't agree, then cool, have fun with your 20M + profit losses. I've seen this happen over the course of 5+ years, rares always crash hard on major updates. The only reason they've been rising is GE manipulation to make them look like they're worth more then they really are. Rares will continue to fall, PK items will not skyrocket to crazy numbers, etc. etc.

Get ready for a crazy market :D

I have a h'ween mask set that I've been saving for years and now I watch it plummet I have no idea what to do. But I believe that when halloween comes around again they will return to their price. The reason prices increased is because of inflation of gold into the economy. Once botting become more and more popular and gold was easier and easier to get rares become more available to purchase which means: Demand goes up Price goes up.

After reading your post, it is full of made up numbers, and your primary argument is that stakers are coming back, which will cause rares price decline.

If you followed the phat market, you wouldalready know that there was a "crash", that made it all the way up to reds being sold in the GE. An hour later, they had already rebounded, and greens are now bought out again as well.

Rares will not go back to pre-ge prices, because everyone in this game has way more money than they used to, simple enough.

But see, you've been presented with the false image that when a certain holiday comes around, that item will go up. It isn't true at all, actually its the opposite. Merchanters spread the fact around that Santas go up on Christmas, then everyone thinks they're going to save them up for then, and sell them. Well you along with 10,000 other people are doing the same thing. So what happens when everyone sells the same thing at once? They crash. Merchanters take advantage of the chaos that mass selling creates, because so many people are trying to sell. People go lower than others to get rid of their rares that were promised to rise, so merchanters stock up. Its all a huge fluke and I know how the entire market works. If you want to make the best profit off of a rare, sell it a few weeks prior to that holiday, or a month or so after, when they recover.

Don't get manipulated into the same thing as everyone else, rares don't rise on their holidays, they crash. Get rid of your shit now before its too late.

I was just using holidays as an example but they do follow the charts and as I said before the amount of gold in the Runescape economy is much much more than pre-ge which means that prices will remain the same due to inflation.

tl;dr -- if you know how the entire market works, you wouldn't be saying such stupid things that even a 5 year old can figure out. Phats will never crash in the long run because there is more and more money being introduced into the game. Before giving advice on what others should do, try and think things through.
