Please, before you read, I'm trying to get serious responses on the topic so if you have nothing interesting to say, don't post it.

Wow, so lately I've been trying to be very careful as to where, how and when I bot. Now, I do have to say, I am a big fan of just letting the bots do the work, I've used them consistently for the past 6+ months, and love botting. I've made a business out of it and know how to do bot well. I've also been playing since about 05 and have been through a good majority of the change.

But I feel theres a huge problem here.

The past few days, I've been trying to do a few things by hand in order to possibly avoid yet another main banned or rolled back before the wild and free trade return. The thing is.. I finally noticed something.. By botting so much, and the mass amounts of bots there are now, the game is almost getting ruined by us, botters.

Now please, don't think that I am one of those kids who rant about how bots ruin everything, but from doing a few skills by hand, it's a bit ridiculous to sit back and look at the game from a neutral perspective. Who have we become with all these bots? Everyone has become greedy and wants to buy 99's, make money by doing nothing, and so on and so forth.

What I am getting at here is that since bots have become such a normal site now, and the bots are easily purchased by thousands of people a day, we're digging our own hole here. Look at how RS has changed since the announcement of free trade and wild return. The mining guild is absolutely PACKED in f2p, the fishing guild has trains of people running to the opposite dock, Source Garden has a minimum of 5-8 people PER WORLD.Think about how many bots that is..

Unfortunately I have to say, I can understand WHY all the people that do legit skills get so pissed at us who bot, and they have every right to report any bot they see. Resources in the community of Runescape are harder to get because of the mass amounts of bots and such. How is this going to affect us in the future as players of the game?

Also luring is another topic but I'm going to leave that alone for now.

I feel as if this continues to expand.. We may push Jagex to a breaking point. Any thoughts as to what you've seen or experienced lately in game? What do you think is going to be made of all the bots in the future?

WARNING: I'm trying to be serious here. I'm not trying to be funny or troll, I'm being realistic here and very curious what others think the future of this game will be. What will happen since free trade is back along with the wild. Thoughts?

You are completely right. The biggest problem coming on February 1st is going to be the army of level 3's invading. The issue is a double-edged sword, especially in a community like Sythe.

Thank you and yes, I feel as if the lvl 3's will now rule f2p once again in a dangerous manner. Bots have exploded in interest as well as means to avoiding ways to be caught. The time and effort put into making the bots, in a way, is a bit overwhelming.

I feel like Sythe might start becoming a bit more of a dangerous community again because of this as well. I'm beginning to realize how big of a change this is. This isn't just a re implementation of the past, it's actually happening and bringing back old times as things were just becoming corrupt.

Runescapes economy is fail, the amount of gp injected into the game is what makes the game so easy aswell. The best items in the game can be purchased and worn by any noob out there with some large amount of gp which i dont think should be possible. Maybe botters are ruining the game a little for others making the only option to be good is to bot but there botters will never stop. A jagex store where you have to buy credit to purchase better then GP items would be a big change because it makes the Gp in game less valuable. This could stop a number of botters who bot for money to transfer to there main. Im not to sure just some ideas anyways, lets just say rares will become extremely rare because of the number of people who will be able to purchase them.

Yes , Your right as said above. But unfortunately most of us (like me) Hate playing RS legit ever since I first ever botted. I litterially CANNOT play legit....

The only thing I do is pk legit and quest that's it....

    Botting is addictive.

That's a really good point. I never thought of it that way, if Jagex sold in game gold themselves, or found a way that they could only implement gold onto account and sell for money, thus passing RWT, then it could be a possible solution but yet SO complex to implement. About the rares and other items, I'm still having a hard time figuring out whether or not it will be easy to get supplies for skills from other players, or if it will be difficult. What items will become good and what items will become hard to find after the update?.. Hmmm..

I also agree with this very much. I played legit for about 4 years or so on and off and I got to a decent level all by hand. Ever since I was introduced to bot, I was used to just letting it do everything for me.

I can't seem to get back into the habbit in playing by hand simply because I realized a few years ago that I wasted way to much time building a fictional character that did not help me one bit with my actual future. I find that using bots gives me the ability to still play the game I enjoy and actually have a life at the same time.

I'm suprised that you had to start playing legit to realise this.

Anyway, there may be lots and lots of bots in runescape, BUT there are still a massive amount of legit players.

At the moment, I don't see bots as THAT BIG of an issue. I am a legit player myself and I don't find myself hindered by bots. The only problem for me is being accused as a botter; "no one gets 99 legit nice bot, reported" which may begin to put legit players off RuneScape in the future, especially as many achievements become less and less meaningful.

I have a feeling Jagex has something up their sleeve to take care of bots/RWT. Something that they've yet to unveil. We'll see, starting after February 1st. They seem pretty confident they can deal with botting.

I don't think they'll do anything.. and I feel exactly the same way you do.
I really wish they would of won the law suit against Impsoft, so all these bots would disappear. The only reason I auto is because 99% of others do, so I don't want to do what they don't have to. I would much rather play the game legitimately, like you do.

As when free trade comes out.. There will be no bots for 1-2 weeks. The update will be so massive 60% of bots will need a big update, and the client itself will have to go under a massive patch.

I really hope this bullshit ends soon.

I have been playing since 2002. I started botting 5 months ago and I remember I bought a mining bot first. It was AWESOME! I got like 1-99 in 4-5 weeks and waking up in the morning to find you had leveled like 14 times was amazing. Because of botting this game so boring for me. Before bots were so common (years and years ago) my neighbor had lvl 80 range and every kid around us thought he was awesome! I remember kids would drool to 80+ stats. Now you see level 99's everywhere and in every skill because of bots! Botting will ruin this game like has for me. Don't get me wrong I love logging on and talking to friends, but I promise you after more and more people get their hands on these very sophisticated bots they will never want to play legit again which in return will ruin the game completely.

I know it took alot to really think about it, but the more I think about it the worse I think of it as. Also thats a really good point, I was just thinking that the other day, achievements means absolutely nothing anymore, it's a bit upsetting.

Guess we'll have to wait till then Eh? I'm pretty interested to see how the new system is going to work.

See, that's the thing. They HAVE to have something. They know as well as we do what is going to happen, what the consequences will be.

Completely agree and the game will be going back downhill because of the return, regardless I'm happy and also a bit unhappy its returning. I love the old pking, but I feel it's going to be much more difficult, teams everywhere and even more dangerous to walk around in. I liked pking solo but now it's going to be hard with multiple people chasing after you (I'm not the best pker in the world, but I still enjoy picking on lower levels :p)

I would rather the achievements in the game be more meaningful rather than common occurring scenes now.

I've had been thinking this also in the past month or two. I can't help but notice the line of bots attacking the Al-Kharid warriors, the 15 people at the ranging guild on each world, and the 40-50 people mining essence in Varrock.

That's right, I haven't even checked these places yet. I can only imagine how many people are mining pure ess right now. I bought some the other day thinking it was at a low point (at 124 gp) but then I realised after that theres probably going to be loads of bots botting pure ess and selling at lowest to drop the price. Basically I bought ess at he wrong time but oh well..

I really don't have any sympathy, for Jagex, or for their player base. The reason I feel this way is because Jagex could easily stop botting. I'm not saying there wouldn't be a single bot out there, but they could DRASTICALLY cut the numbers down by a good 80-90% if they really wanted to.

The truth is, money from bots is just as good as money from players, and Jagex is a business after all. Of course Jagex will still ban accounts for botting, RWTing, etc., but they only do that to save face and to be able to look back and say, "Hey, look here, we've been trying to stop it."

For instance, after using the AutoSorceressGarden Pro bot from rsbots.net for about 10 minutes, I immediately saw several things that could be used to flag an account with a 100% guarantee it was a bot. Either Jagex just doesn't see the possibilities in how easy it would be to stop bots, or they simply don't care.

    Bots mess up the game.

If you think it's completely insane that you have to click in one spot repetitively for 200+ hours just to hit a 99, then you don't deserve that 99. It's simple as that.

People say that bots supply the economy with raw materials, but this is bullshit too. Raw materials are always there, they're just worth a lot more because people have to put in hard work to get them. Now bots come around and flood the market with these raw materials and their prices drop, which hurts the people who got these materials legitimately because now their have to sell their stuff for 50gp instead of 100gp.

If you think that parts of the game are too boring, difficult, repetitive, stupid, whatever, then you simply don't deserve the rewards for passing those parts of the game. People who are willing to spend 100+ hours of their lives clicking deserve those rewards. It's that simple.

I made a thread about that i got trolled cause i raged. I was starting slayer again on my pure just tried to kill some bluedrag. It was basicly impossible 1-2botter per drag.

Botting ruined runescape for those who's playing legitly. Tbh its been 2-3months that im playing legitly and i enjoy the game. If bot wasnt there im sure it would be alot better.

One thing you guys havent brought up is that bots keep item prices cheap. Without them the prices could easily be more than it is now.

I get the same feeling also.. I'd be cool with a tiny minority of people cheating, but with such a huge amount it really undermines the time and effort I've put into my accounts. What are my 99's when someone could pay $20 and get the same stats in a month? What's my 1B gp when a few bots could earn that in a week or two?

It puts real players at a gigantic disadvantage, it sucks pouring hours and hours of your time into something only to see other people getting the same result with no effort at all, fucking up the entire game in the process...and it isn't even that bad for me personally (unless someone's planning on releasing a staking bot :p), skillers have it so bad I can totally understand why they'd want to go out of their way to report every bot they saw.
