Donor Ranks

So after a while of looking at the donator ranks, I realized that they're all Runescape related. I understand this is a black-market, and Runescape is one of the most popular used sections, though shouldn't we have ranks for all games? Not just having Runescape but an overall ranks I think would be much better. I know most of you will say 'no support' just to the fact you mainly play Runescape.

Wouldn't you think it'd be better if we had different ranks? I understand the $300+ donor's get to choose what's on the outside of the gold. I don't understand why we don't have something for everyone?​

This is mainly a Runescape cheating website. No support. Come suggest again if you're willing to actually make a set of multigame donator icons and have the community look at them. Not just a "Somebody else take the time to make more donator icons".

So, basically you're saying if I can't make icons I can't suggest this sort of idea? I'm NOT telling someone to do it, I'm just asking for opinions.

I'm not stating that I'm here to donate for the ranks. I'm not complaining either, I'm just saying it'd be cool to have a multi-game ranks for everyone to have.

 

The only way I could see this working is if 3-10 different templates were made for each class of donator, and users could change them in their CP.

 

I do support, but not unless they change rule the option of being able to change your rank, which should be done. This is mainly a runescape site, but still has other games. I'm sure in the future there will be other markets, so there should be an option for other game markets.

 

I didn't mean it like there's a billion ranks per status. I meant one rank per status.
i.e. one rank for $5 donor, one for $25, etc.

 

Alright, well that'd work as well, but I was thinking something along as what I've said. I don't think it'll be changed as these seem to have stuck pretty well. If we got some more ideas of what kind of ranks you were talking about, that'd really help. I mean I can't say I officially support without any background on what kind of ranks you were thinking would match each donator.

 

That'd be up to everyone. Hence why I put this in the suggestion category. I just want to see what people would like to see. Not all runescape related. I like the administrator/moderator ranks though, they're fine. Just give me some input on what we should have for donor ranks.

 

How can you see it working that way? That is far too complicated in terms of user ranks, groups, and permissions. Your template idea would be an absolutely daunting task for the staff.

Changing our own rank? That would be nothing but a big mess, not to mention all of the group and permission problems that would be faced in doing such a thing. This goes hand in hand with what I Peter I said and neither of these will happen, nor should they happen. Just my opinion...

This is how I would want it. Things need to be kept simple. I support the use of new ranks that are generic yet still relating to money or loyalty. I understand that a large chunk of this site is here for RuneScape, but why should anyone who donates from the whole forum be forced to have a rank with RuneScape related items on it? A single generic rank should replace each of the current ranks in my opinion. What should be on them? I guess that's still up for discussion.

 

I think you have a valid point, however, this will likely never come to pass.

For starters, all the ranks on Sythe.org are RuneScape themed, not just the donors' ranks. If only the donors' ranks were RuneScape themed, then I think you would have a really good argument, but that isn't the case.

Secondly, although as of late Sythe.org has seen a lot of growth into other areas in terms of games, when it was founded, and still currently, it is primarily a RuneScape site first, other games site second.

As to everyone complaining about having a RuneScape themed rank forced upon them, then don't donate. You're obviously only donating for the rank (I'm not saying that's wrong, 99% of people do), but you get what you get. If Matthew had to create 5 different sets of donors' ranks, and then set each user to the one they wanted, it'd be a mess.

 

Why shouldn't I donate because of a user rank? That seems awfully foolish to me. You just wrongly assume that '99%' of people only donate for a rank. Do you honestly think myself and others would donate $50+ (or even the $25+ donators for that matter) because we want a small image of dragon claws (just an example) next to our name? That answer is no. Don't get me wrong though; yes, some people do donate simply for the image and they tend to be lower donors. I'm not saying all of the $5 donors are donating for the rank, but yes, you are right. Some people donate for the image. That being said, some doesn't mean all and you shouldn't mistake the donations as 'paying' for glamor or something. Donations help the site and are put to a good cause for loyal Sythe users.

On to the real point of this thread. Why would you think Matthew would create five sets of donor ranks? That would never happen due to the amount of time it would take to create such ranks, as well as the user groups and permissions that would have to be dealt with. What's being proposed is a new set of generic donor ranks that aren't specifically RuneScape themed. This surely wouldn't be such a bad thing, and I think it would be a better fit for all of the forums.

 

Actually, it wasn't a generalization, it was the truth. Not a cent of donations ever see this site. The money is split 50/50 and pocketed by Richard and Matthew. So please stop with the "good will" and "good cause" attitude, because you haven't a clue.

I supported Aroxez in the proposition that we have a set of generic donor ranks which would look better in all parts of the forums. You somehow skipped the first part and took things and spun them around. Then with your last sentence, you say that the RuneScape themed donor ranks look out of place... That's what I've been getting at.

Donate 300$ and you can have a custom rank, doesn't have to be RS related.

 

I hate runescape and haven played it since 6th grade, but you have to realize this website was created around runescape and runescape is it's main function.

 

It's donating, not purchasing ranks.
