So my Verac Staker account is 75/47/70 with 75 hp and 75 magic. i'll hopefully be staking armour on, etc.

Would staking with the SoL be a good idea? in theory it sounds nice, but im not sure about it, just because i could either do a Excalibur spec (raising my Defence to 78) or use the good old DDS.

i could decide what to sue once i know what staker im up against.. but in general, should i "open" with this kind of staking tactic?

mate its gonna be a trial and error thing for you, you'll have to find out for yourself which works best personally the Sol spec isn't all that great, i'd go with DDS if it was me.

Correct me if i am wrong.. but i believe the spec halves the damage they deal? or does it halve the frequency they hit?

You do realise SOL spec only works when you have it equipped, as soon as you switch to another weapon the effect disappears

oh... no i didnt realise this. well, that makes my plans completely redundant.

Forgive my ignorance. I've only recently returned to the game after a 3 year break, so theres a lot of things im learning and rediscovering.

    thanks though :)

I'd keep spec off, unless you get enchanted excalibur.

Verac Staking with Staff of Light

Staff of light is an EXCELLENT idea, it cuts the damage you receive in half and it's near equal stats to an abyssal whip. you can't lose, Staff of light will be the new staking idea before long. that idea is great. except Instead of verac, have full torag with an obby shield and max possible str bonus, it gives better defense on top of the 50% damage reduction. The dds at 35 str hits like 12, maximum. 50% of 12 is 6, their maximum damage special attack is 60\60. While your staff of light is hitting constant 140-170s. I think the idea is excellent and i'd like to see it put to the test.

I know you saw my thread freddy and I was also confused about the staff of light spec. It only lasts for a minute and fights with armor on usually last longer. I think the SOL spec shines more in a fight with armor off. You should look into enchanted excalibur more if you are going to be using armor.

Excalibur (e) needs 70 prayer in order to obtain.

Like said above me Enchanted Excalibur needs 70 prayer = staker ruined.

I've been playing my tank vs another tank using SOL and its fairly close in win/loss. The staff of light however does hit infrequently on another tank.

you might want to change around the "verac" into maximum armor (torags, etc) and just try to hit with a staff =)
