    Mel's Hole

Theres this guy that used to live in Washington named Mel. Mel called into a radio station here in the US and explained his story to Coast to Coast AM host Art Bell over the period of a few years. He has a hole on his property that is so deep, nobody has been able to fill it up. You can't see the bottom of it. For as long as he and his neighbors can remember, everyone has thrown things into this hole, never to hear a sound when it would reach the bottom. It is rumored that there was a man who threw his dead dog into the hole, and ran into it a few days later while he was hunting.

Mel was curious as to how deep his hole was, so he would try to measure it. He took a 1lb fishing weight and tied it to a piece of fishing line that he bought in 5000 yard spools. He claims to have lowered it over 80,000 feet down. This would make it the deepest hole on earth.

I don't believe this, but it is a good story that someone should make a movie about. I have almost finished listening to all 27 parts. I will post the first 3 and if anyone takes an interest in it, they can look up the rest.

Wait, what? Threw a dead dog in? I just pictured it my head. Pretty graphic, lol. If you were to drop something you wouldn't really hear it because it's just dirt right? Unless you drop a dead dog of course.

Well, I'm not asking anyone to listen to it all, or any of it for that matter. According to Mel, Shortly after doing his first radio show with Art Bell, he comes home to find that the government has closed off the area around his house. When he asked why they would do that, he was told it was the site of a plane crash. He claims to have seen no indicators of a crash of any kind. No fire and no smell. He was told to keep quiet and that if he did not, they told him "it would be really easy for us to find a drug lab on this property." According to Mel, they had him relocated to Australia, where he contacted Art and did a couple more shows. The government has modified the satellite imaging to not show the location of the hole. Although Mel states it is in Washington state, a little outside Ellensburg, He has never given the exact location for fear of unwanted media attention.

According to the story, the hole is around 9'9" in diameter. He claims that everything pretty much was dropped straight down. A caller points out that it would hit the side a few times before it would just fall practically straight down. Mel claims that neighbors have thrown things into the hole for years such as an entire dead cow, a refrigerator, and truck loads of old tires and that all these items did not amount to a visible pile.

He said that a neighbor threw his deceased dog into the hole, then while he was out hunting one day, he saw a dog that looked exactly like his with the same collar and tags and everything. He tried to call the dog, but he said it looked like it belonged to another hunter.

My opinion is this is all just some crazy story, But it would make sense to have a hole such as this should it be a blow hole or vent for the nearby stratovolcano, Mount Rainier.

He said they (him and his neighbors) used the hole to throw their garbage in and it sparked his curiosity when he realized it was just never filling up. Think, if you went to this hole right now, if it exists, wouldn't you like to throw something into it?

Sure, I'd throw something out of curiosity. But no dead animals. ;)

Yeah, these people went overkill on the dead animals. I'm not going to take the time to listen to all of it, but it is a very interesting story.

I don't see how the dead animals are even relevant, nor do I understand why that's all everyone is getting from the story.

The main part is that he claims this hole is over 80,000 feet deep and you can't see or hear the bottom.

I have spared you all the end of the story, since it gets a little far-fetched and I didn't wanna lose anyone's interest right off the bat, I do believe Mel has quite the imagination.

It is very interesting and Art Bell is a genius of a radio host, no matter what he talks about.

You repeated yourself there at the end, Kill Dank

Pretty interesting I guess, although it does seem pretty damn far-fetched. What I want to know is, how does he know it's over 80,000 feet deep when he cannot see the bottom nor hear anything hit it?

He says in subsequent interviews that he had a 5000 yard spool of fishing line and a 1 lb lead weight he attached to the end of it. He lowered it into the hole and didn't feel it hit the bottom so it became a routine of his to buy more fishing line, tie it to what he had, and keep track of how many feet.

It sounds like a dumb way to measure it, but if it's what he had at the time I guess it would work.

If it's as deep as he says it is, it would just explode on it's way down.

That's pretty interesting, but most likely fake.

I don't understand why everyone is so hung up on the dead animals, in some parts of America where hunting is a popular past time then I'm sure getting rid of dead animals can be pretty tedious, if my neighbour had a never ending hole I'd throw them down lol.

Anyway, I'm starting to sound hypocritical. I think that the government getting involved is a total lie, they can't just blame it on a plane crash because I'm sure that there'd be an insane amount of evidence, including media interest.

I think I'll take the time to check out some of the videos and reply properly, but I doubt I'll get all the way through.

Very interesting, thanks for the share.

I heard something like this before. I'd volunteer myself to jump down to the bottom with a live feed video camera and flashlight. Sure I'd die, but it'd be worth it.

It seems like he said there was a plane crash so he wouldn't have to cover for not allowing people to go there. They supposedly threatened him to keep his mouth shut, so he didn't argue. Idk if he's telling the truth or not, but there have been stranger things found
